Self-Publishing Money Tips & How to Save Costs as an Author // It's no secret that self-publishing can get expensive if you don't set a budget for yourself. There are four big things that will take the most out of your budget: hiring an editor, book cover designer, book formatting, and maybe paying for some marketing. I wanted to use this video to go through each of those potential costs and talk about things you can do to make things more affordable, especially when you're someone who wants to make a career out of writing and plan on publishing a lot of books. As a freelance editor, I always bundle my copyediting, line editing, and proofreading services at a price of no more than $200 altogether because I know first-hand how expensive it is to self-publish, and authors shouldn't have to break the bank to afford an editor. I'm writing my first book at the moment and have been able to save a ton by editing and formatting everything myself. I use Adobe InDesign, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word. I don't design book covers, so most of my money goes towards hiring professionals to ensure my covers are high quality. Your videos have helped me more than you'll ever realize, especially your self-publishing tutorials. I love your content and hope you'll continue to share your knowledge and wisdom with us in the future.

Grammarly is helpful with sentence structure, spelling, etc. I use this on everything.

nice to hear about the beta readers which we have done. I am not artistic at all so I don't think I can design a cover. However, I have seen on groups people getting stung by hiring the wrong one even a few got banned on Amazon because "designer " used what amazon claimed was broken copy writed material which is a bit scary.

In terms of marketing, do arc readers help? Seeing as how they're the ones who leave their reviews so other people could see whether they'd want to buy it or not.
