While doing a little window shopping in Selfridges Manchester, Trinny got to thinking - what makes a truly great investment piece? She might not be splurging on anything today herself, but if you’re thinking of treating yourself to a designer piece, she has a few tips to keep in mind. For Trinny, it’s all about choosing clothes she knows she’ll wear forever, rather than trend-led pieces that will go out of style in a year or two. Those wardrobe staples need to be able to stand the test of time, so sometimes the designer quality ensures the investment is worth your while. Next time you’re ready to invest in something new, make sure it ticks all of your boxes before you take the plunge - you’ll end up with something you’ll cherish forever…

So much fun, the McQueen skirt was everything! But unless you are on red carpets every season? It was beautiful enough to float around the house in! I agreed with all Trinnys criticisms. She is teaching all of us so much about tailoring.

Interesting you'd still approach the investment pieces willing to make alterations...$$$! I would have expected them to be perfect as is. Love that MaQueen outfit. That blazer is something special and with the skirt an amazing outfit. I hope you bought it.

Thanks for this advice - I actually bought a gold sequinned bag at the start of the year with such rationale in mind. Because it fulfills all that I need from an evening clutch (detachable crossbody or smaller handle, zipper closure with multiple pockets, curved so it's not too stiff/ structured for my lifestyle but still adds a design element), I'm fairly certain I'll be keeping it for life (because I don't own any other sequinned clothing, it helps to dress up a look without clashing). Plus, bags don't have to go in the washing machine, so I'm not releasing plastics into the water stream. Win win!

The Fed is no doubt at fault when they were too slow in controlling inflation in the beginning and now they are trying to do extreme catchup. The pandemic, the supply chain issues, and the Ukraine war all contribute to this perfect storm of brewing inflation. Don't forget the big spike in housing prices, that's another reason the Fed is having a hard time-fighting inflation. All in all, cash in king now and milk that high savings rate if you got the cash. Good times will only last so long and bad times will fade. Buy EVERYTHING less thw blue pj's which look like u could buy in our wonderful zara. So wish uou would have said the prices. Be nice to know just out of curiosity. TREAT YOURSELF TRINNY. There is something infinitely cool and classic about a tulle skirt. Think Carrie Bradshaw in the opening sequence of Sex and the City where she wears a pink tank top with a white ballerina skirt or the sage green tulle she wears in the Paris episode. Iconic.

That was excellent: little bit of background on Paco Rabane and other designers was beautifully delivered and v interesting. You looked fab in everything, and probably should buy them all except the Isabelle Marrante coord which looks like a five year old’s xmas pjs. And I know you love it, but think you could leave the Acne blue chenille top. Yes it’s got great sleeves but….However, you looked sensational in the Victoria Beckham green dress. The style colour and the length really suited you. You looked knockout. Even worked with the boots.

Wow the tutu skirt and the white defined waist blazer it is my favorite look. The turtle neck sequin top as well. The fabric texture and color of the pants and blazer that didn't do anything for you is pretty but definitely agreed with you about the back open of the jacket didn't look good. btw Paco Rabanne was born in Spain. This kind of video is very helpful and educational, thank you for that.

Vicarious spending, what could be more fun? If investment dressing is the goal, the McQueen blazer was the best by far. It'll look as elegant in 20 years as it does now. Eye candy like the blue pajamas can be achieved at a fraction of the cost, with a custom dyed silk if necessary. The Acne sweater isn't an investment, either. Viscose chenille won't look as luscious in 10 years. A good wool or cashmere knit will.
