This was my grandparents house. The man you dealt with was my grandpa. My room was the fish tank room. That weird box thing in the garage is a speaker built into the wall. Speakers are built into the walls floors and ceiling all throughout the upstairs. And the thermostat is that little screen inside the door among other things.

Disconnect or remove any of their security equipment. The previous tenant in my house was forcibly evicted. Landlord didn't remove her cameras and the system was still active when I moved in. She would trigger the alarm at random times of the night. I ripped out every camera to get sleep. You are a very brave man. That house is a horror show. It's hard to tell where to begin.

Got itchy just watching you walk through. I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled that the mess will be gone.

You've got your hands full with this one, once it is empty you'll see the real work needed. I've never in my life left a home like this. Crazy to think how many are left like this or worse.. take pride no matter where you live, wether your rent or own.

The Glass Blocks are valuable. My most recent move was horrible. I put a nonrefundable deposit on the company. On my final day in the house the van came, took a look, called it a hoard and left!!! Three times I told the mover that the buyer had said I could leave things behind. I packed everything carefully yet he left my things there. I'm now in Florida in my completely new life with a man I love and who loves me. Was it worth losing everything I owned? You bet!!! He had to leave alot behind too. Wires everywhere. * Hard to imagine the living style people choose, but living/hoarding like this is an illness. * Excited to see what you do to this house.

Furnace-No drip leg on furnace gas line...gas shutoff installed after the flex line. I just spent around $8 a piece for Glass Block to do a basement windows job..Take em and store them in your warehouse.

I don't see a single thing worth saving with the possible exception of the pendent lights and MAYBE the glass topped sinks in the bathrooms.

That's so horrible I almost have no words. All of that is trash. I wonder if it would be more economical to take down some of that back fence and bring a bulldozer and dumpsters. The backyard is much larger than I was expecting, but that means that much more trash. It will be interesting to see what the electrical, plumbing and HVAC people say. Is it just the camera or those bedroom doors very narrow in the rooms super small? The kitchen puny and horrible layout? The foyer, or lack thereof.... There is a lot of work to be done but I'm sure you can make it look a lot better.

The Big Black HP Vinyl printer is worth about 200-1000$. Based on the current condition it is about 300ish dollars. I use printers similar to this one when making banners, posters, and vinyl cut-outs for clothing. However, that sticker with the G on it looks like it might be rented by the previous owner. Our printers are contracted through AmCom/Xerox and they have a similar sticker.

You might check around and see if there are any metal recyclers (scrappers) and see if they would take the metal and wires. They might pick up that stuff free and they can sell to a reycle place

The glass blocks are loved by crafter's, and you can probably get $2.50-$5 for each block. They also make an amazing divider wall,(pony wall) when stained or painted with lights inside= a really cool art piece 😜

I think, wow is the only word that describes this place. I would be worried about what they did and it’s covered up. Some of that furniture that was outside, looked like it was nice before it was put out.

It's makes me feel great to see these videos of how bad it looks AFTER they move their stuff out because I think I'm a hoarder but I don't have half the amount of stuff they apparently had AND my house is a lot cleaner.

I'm late to the party, but it doesn't look too bad to me as hoarder houses go. There was a bunch of stuff that looked poorly done/jerry-rigged. I saw a lot of scrap metal, wire, etc inside and out, so someone should be willing to haul that away for you for free just to resell to a scrapyard. You may even want to call your local scrapyard to see if they will do it or give you the name of someone they know who will do it. Some of that furniture didn't look too bad, even the stuff outside, but I know from just doing a clean out myself that sometimes you can't give decent stuff away. I saw a bunch of stuff that contractors or places like Habitat for Humanity Re-Store could use, but again you have to get them to come to you. Maybe drag all the salvageable stuff outside in piles, cover the piles with tarps and put an ad online about free stuff with a one week window for pickup. After that just get a couple of dumpsters and start filling them. The blow-mold snow man might bring a few bucks, but I'm thinking the scrap metal, wire and ripped out furnace would bring more. Also, the aquarium equipment if in good condition might bring a few bucks. I saw a lot of random cabinet and dresser drawers laying around. Crafters like to use old drawers for frames and shadow boxes, so you could gather them up and list them in a lot for crafters/artists. I noticed a nice looking baby high chair outside that I bet some women's shelter would take. I could see daylight around some of those outside doors so you might want to address that issue so critters don't get in. The sheds on the property might be sellable unless you want to keep them. What slobs! At least you don't have beer drinkers coming in and leaving their beer bottles laying around like in the vacant house I just bought. I put boards over the front door, they pushed the door in! I secured the door better, put more no trespassing signs on the front porch, put a litheum battery light in the front bedroom, no ones tried to get in since. Someone stole all the wiring in the house a few years ago. I hope to have the house livable and move in, in a few months.

WOW, I don’t know how anyone could live like that. I really like the exterior of the house itself. Hopefully the renovation of the inside will be awesome too.

Mark, on thermostats, look particularly within ten feet left or right of the intake air- return air- point for the furnace/air handler. It will also usually be about head height for women and shoulder height for men. The furnace in the basement didn't appear to have the low voltage wiring bunch still attached, so it hasn't worked since that time- you can't even turn the fan on without accessing the low voltage circuit (12 volts) so I am in a quandary about how they lived there- I'd be asking for as much info on utilities as local authorities will give you, as I am suspicious of other utility related foolishness. That is going to be a long slog to clean and bring up to snuff; get a 9 or 12 yard dumper in the back yard asap and get the house emptied first, and any exteriors that will need access or clearance. You can get some local day help to finish the yard while your contractors "do the house". I'd suck it up and get someone from the local inspections office ( one that is retired and not under obligation to report) to look over the house- several violations of code on plumbing, electrical and HVAC were seen- the whatever connects to drain the aquarium are very disturbing. As well rip open that bazaar box you found- it wasn't constructed by any good carpenter and could be hiding answers to some of "what was going on here". Do not slack on calling the gas company- with the meter pulled, the only source for that gas is their side. You can already add the cost to recertify the gas system before you will be allowed to hook back up to it. Also a $20 k slush fund to your projection- you definitely have a $10 k trach problem and some of it may qualify as hazardous- he was running a bootleg electronics and appliance repair, likely cash only. Maybe not a grow house but not much better. I'm thinking your seller didn't actually live here- the idea of someone with a huge room full of good tools living like a crab in a cave full of crap just doesn't ring true for me. He may have been "hosting" some "friends" as watchmen and living somewhere else- notice how many doors down there had hasps for padlocks. If you go digging, I think this story may be in league with that bizarre church/cult home/residence thing you saw three years ago! FR

WOW 😯 this one is a crazy one. I thought some of our tenants were bad 🥺 The snowman was the only thing I saw worth keeping. The rest of it got to go! Clearing it all out just to get an idea of what you can do with the house is going to be a Challenge .

The kind of folks who win auctions of storage unit and clean them out are the kind of folks you should hire to do the cleanup of this house. Probably would do it for free in exchange for keeping anything worth $$$, and they could have a free pile on the lawn for a day so useable things get carried away. That will make a lot less to go into dumpsters and into the landfill. (You provide the roll off dumpsters)

There is probably enough scrap metal in that mess to make a dent in the amount of stuff that needs to be disposed of. When I sold my properties I started about two years before getting rid of stuff, either scrapping, selling donating and throwing away. My ultimate goal was leaving the country so pretty much everything had to go.

I live in British Columbia Canada. Near me is a cattle feed lot ,and all the fencing is stacked tires . they must have about 500 head of cattle all the time .

You did the seller a favor, the only way their life could get better was to get out of that disgusting mess and move on.

Have a reseller come in and pick out stuff they will resell, and they can also tell you where to donate in your area, they are very knowledgeable about stuff like that, and that snowman is highly sought after because it's a vintage snowman. Then I would advertise scrap metal for scrappers and have them come clean out all the remainder stuff after the reseller goes through and then you get your property pretty well cleaned up for free

What a dump! 😱 @23.35 looks to be a central vacuum system and I believe the pvc with the black cap (sticking out of the wall above it) is a cleanout port in case it gets clogged it can be snaked out. It has potential, good luck!

Drop 3, 20 yard dumpsters to start. It will take about 2-3 more after you start to rotate those out. Rent a skid steer for 3-4 days in the yard. 200-220 man hours. That will give you a clean slate to put it back together. It’s usually a good financial hit when meters have need removed because you need that trade to look at that system a lot closer before they give it a thumbs up, present it to the AHJ and then they will give it the blessing for the new meter install.

Please, please make an after video with all numbers. How much will cost inspection and redoing HVAC, plumbing, electricity?

I think I saw a pair of speakers in the tool room. My aunt and my friends have the same floor plan; this house is beyond trashed. It’s a complete gut with like 12 dumpsters just for the trash. I wouldn’t trust anything in it as far as gas, electrical, or plumbing. Who knows if they cut anything structural.

Tear it all out back to the studs . Then tear out half of the interior walls . When you get to that point it’ll be time to put it back together in a much more organized way . Good luck .

The panel hanging out of the wall is a central control panel. That’s where your lights and thermostat control are.

Being given any time after closing is better than what my mother got. She had to be moved out by closing and anything left on the property at closing was lost. They would not let them even go back onto the property to get items in the yard and would call the police for them trespassing.

I wish I lived there, In a retired custodian of 25 years. Before that. 9 years at a local Holiday Inn. And way before that at 8 years old , me and my sister would go with my mother to clean houses. I would help clean sinks, Wash. Dishes sweep vacuum, I get in the bath to scrub tub and walls ,I love it. So now ,Yeal I Love cleaning. Teachers would tell me ,that I put pride in my cleaning. We had one like this recently but it was also infested with roaches and spiders. We ended up having to order 3 of the 30 yard dumpsters plus a trailer full. That did not include the trash out for the Demo, just to empty the trash they left behind. 🤦🏻‍♂️

FYI - some Furniture items can be worth some money. But, if you get Furniture items sometimes it might be worth just if you are able to. bring it to like a Donation place. But stuff like Toys can be Valuable. Stuff like Pokemon Cards and items can be worth some or alot of Money. Stuff like My little Pony can be worth some Money to. ( I Sold a My little Pony Tin a couple years ago on Ebay for $1,350.00 ) With Pokemon Cards and Items some of the cards can be worth a couple hundred to thousands if in decent or better condition. With the Fish Tank, just clean it up and bring it to a Thrift Store Donate it to them.

The neighbors will be happy to see the clean up from the outside. It will take time for a clean up crew to finish the outside to the inside of the house. When the house is done it will look amazing inside for the next family to live in it. Life back in the back yard for kids to play in it.

Restore is a place that will pick up useful stuff. They are run by Habitat for Humanity, and profits from the store goes to that organization. Very worthy. They take lots of different things. I know I'm posting late to be of help for this project, but maybe good info for your next project.

I had a very strange feeling about that house from the first time you put it in a video but after the walk through I was throughly creeped out, it feels very heavy and sad I wonder if someone passed while living in that house. I feel grief, depression and profound loneliness in there. I think there is spirit there please let us know if you or your workers see or hear strange noises or see things.

What I see Mark is a minimal of about 6 40 yard dumpsters and lots and lots of work..... Plotters are interesting and expensive new but that one looked pretty trashed and if in somewhere where it might have froze - probably junk. The rest of it looks like an awful lot of "redneck" remodeling so I am hoping that you do not find a lot of expensive suprises during remodel as not out of the realm.
