today was a clear out of scrap circuit boards off to gold recovery.

The problem is with 3d printers is hopefully it is still working. I have 3 going full time 24/7 and one was a second hand one and we thought it was a bargain, we ended spending more money on it than we paid for it in repairs. The previous owner had no clue and when he assembled it , the print head or hot end was put in backwards and he just got the shits with it and threw in his garage, it had a bit of water damaged and was all blocked up. Upbox is a good model but find out if it works first as if it dosent it can be costly for the buyer. Great video's been scrapping for a wee while now and enjoy your vid's. I'd definitely throw the 3D printer onto ebay! It's easy and fast to list it and pick-up only means you don't have to worry about postage. Start the listing at the lower end of what you'd be happy with and run it as an auction... you may be surprised where the price ends up!! Good luck mate 👍😊

As someone that started curb scrapping about a year ago, and salvaging bit and pieces off of boards, seeing bins of boards is amazing. Would like to get a box of hard drives like that.

I got big box of hard drives years ago. I was cleaner for the local uni. BE they sold PC they take out the hard drives, which they throw out in the dumper.

That's a phenomenal 3d printer Ben. You can print molds for ingots for when you get back into melting free copper. Keep it as a retirement gift for yourself you won't regret it

That 3d printer is sweet. especially getting it for free. I would definitely try to sell it. As a scrap value it's nothing in comparison to what you can get for it in the working condition like this.

@@bradwelch7425 Yes we take all circuitry we have not got the stage of paying for them yet as most are still in computers and we have to strip it out. I am going to be bying ewaste from suppliers soon but we come to you and pickup. We do not have a retail shed for people to come to to drop off.

Noticed on the motherboards, you have not taken off the Aluminium, get ok, prices per kilogram in the UK, and also the harddrives are worth dismantling, you will get more money that way.

the printer was good when it came out but already new machines for around 300 usd to 800 usd have the same specs or better ( ender 3 v2, prusa i3 mk3 the most popular) print ABS, removable bed, autobed leveling, enclosures etc. Problem with the one you have is the software is proprietary of the machine and who knows if the brand kept updating it or is even free, as for the new machines I mentioned they use free open source software that is always evolving. I think you should sell it as is, someone into 3d printing is probably going to scrape it for its components and a newbie will have headaches trying to make it work.

thank god its not just me that knows its value i offered £50 and £150 to send it to UK but he must think i was trying to rip him of people keep saying melt the abs to make castings but do not release if he does he would be overcome with cyanide - they stopped support in was it 2014 for it i wanted it to use the cabinet with it been filtered as have copd - you know a mess around keep my mind going but he must have sold it. 3 d printers have moved on like personal computers lol - i remember big foot hard drives costing a grand each , in fact i remember bbc acorn the lot but am a year of 60 lol crusty old. and have made pcs for years i almost cry when i see stuff getting scrapped i know it as to be but its sorta like watching everything you ever did been meaningless in life take care be safe mate

In the Philippines the kids setup game rooms and rent time to people to use computers! Maybe if you sell iPads or Apple computers they would buy working ones in the bario? That’s how some of them make money for a business? Or setup a Internet cafe in poor areas in Australia?

Keep or donate the 3D printer, scrap won't give you much. It's a great hobby to get into. You can print replacement parts or QOL gadgets. I've used them to make custom tools to make my life/job a lot easier. You'd be suprised how many 3D models are free online.

curiosity: for all the plastic parts that you are left with after dissasembling different gadgets, why don't you buy a grinder and put the plastic through it, this way you can stack way more in a bin, than stacking big pieces with lots of empty spaces between, that takes alot of space. there are alot of 2 roll grinders you can get

That is a good return, in anyone's book. He has paid out to receive portions of that, he's bought some of it, and he's being given a few bucks here and there to pick some of it up. Several different economies have gone into it, but he'd be making money on it all.

Hi Ben, I was wondering why you don't take the gold strips off some of the other boards like the PCI cards. As much as you scrap you have so much potential to build up a nice amount of gold in my opinion. You know what you're doing sir. Hi Ben good to see you being busy having fun I got myself in another project I picked up 19000 electric utility meters that have #2 coper and cast aluminum ,transformer peripheral board and a small mercury switch I paid 50 cents per meter and I average 2.20 but takes 4 min to take apart should I just dump them for copper bairing price of .45 cents a lb they average 3lb each

I do wonder if those boards being lobbed into those orange tubs have been processed for " gold recovery " or has the " depopulating " been skipped for lack of time or space, etc. I'd like to think that all the processing was done on it all. Not that what I'd prefer matters, but you wonder about it all.

some of the consumer boards have much more value as one can imagine. old stuff is popular amongst overclockers or collectors. even if you sell it for 10 or 15 bucks each it would be a bargin for some boards. knowledge is the key in this case
