We are back with an action packed week of buying and selling of luxury watches here at Watchtrader & Co.
A collector takes a seat with Josh to discuss Rolex sports models. He currently has a GMT-Master II Sprite on a jubilee bracelet reference 126720VTNR. However, his eyes are set on a brand new steel Daytona with the black dial 126500LN. Many people prefer the Panda Daytona however this customer has a preference for the darker variant. Josh makes an offer to take the Sprite in part-exchange for the oystersteel chronograph.
Jon takes a look at a 1970’s ladies Oyster Perpetual with a mother of pearl diamond dial. The watch was passed down to the current owner and doesn’t have many compatibles online. The case and bracelet are Rolex Rolesor (steel and yellow gold). We usually see these 26mm watches in the Lady-Datejust format with the date window and cyclops on the crystal however this ones is time only. As the serial number is only partially visible and the watch is without papers, we suggest that the watch is taken to the workshop for further inspection.
Josh is back with a returning customer who has decided to part ways with his Rolex Submariner Bluesy. This is the steel and yellow gold reference 126613LB with a sunray blue dial and blue bezel. The gent feels that the watch is a little bit too flash for him and wants to part-exchange it for a Batgirl GMT. The black and blue bezel GMT is fitted with a jubilee bracelet and finished in full oystersteel.
Over in the batcave, Harry and Hendo have sat down to discuss a Rolex Explorer II in a rather sad state of affairs. The owner has unfortunately dropped the watch onto a tiled bathroom floor. The sapphire crystal has shattered leaving shards of glass all over the dial. Hendo explains the best thing to do if you’re ever faced with this situation and what can be done to restore the watch back to its former glory. On wrist, Hendo is sporting a two tone Oysterquartz Datejust which is quite a rare and unusual timepiece. The 70’s design is by the watch design maestro Gerald Genta and is the only quartz movement Rolex model to have graced the line-up of the crown. This one features a white Buckley dial which adds a quirk to this already quirky watch.
