Today we are saying goodbye to my 2023 BMW X5 M50i. It was purchased 6 months to blend together a great daily driver and weekend warrior into one perfect package. While it performed both tasks tremendously well, I decided that it was time for a change, and perhaps climb into something that blends that line just a tad bit better. In this video I give my 6 month ownership analysis of what I thought of the M50i. I go over all the pros, the cons, as well as a final conclusion of what its been like living with this SUV for 6 months!!!

The car rental shop did not have my car and had to give me an X5. Holy cow. I drove it from Santa Barbara to PHX.. Holy cow..I want one.

Hello there! Sad to hear you’re moving on from your X5 M50i, but happy for you to get your Dream car. 6mos with my X6 for me as well, amazing experience so far. I’m with you with a wind noise specially at 75mph and up. Quick question, Curious, what did you do with your 22” wheels/tires? Are they in the market 🙂, mine came in with 20”

Yep - for this class of car they should (at least offer) dual pane windows, and additional sound insulation. Most Audis come w/that option !! The 22's are back on the car for the sale. I like the X6s as well, but will try one out once kids are a bit older. X5s are just too common and don't look as good! Great review. The rear seat comment may actually get me to choose another model. Also agree on the AC. My G body m340i has pretty weak AC. Ceramic tint helped a ton with that.

I haven't been thrilled with AC in any BMW. Test drove a few X7s , and same issue. Never had trouble in any of the Audi models I owned (I live in the PHX desert!!). Tint definitely helps. Backseat is adequate but NOT great, if space is an issue definitely look at competitors. Q8 has a roomier backseat, but sacrifices trunk space. Thanks for stopping by !!

Just curious, is the road condition you showed in this video considered city driving? Maybe surbuban?

Yes - I just meant to differentiate it from implying it was 'freeway' - where typically you'd see much better gas mileage. In your case you are correct, 'city driving' would probably yield even worse MPG. Good catch! Thanks for stopping by!!

I have the M550 (2023) and the AC is fabulous. The downside is run flats on alum-alloy rims. Worst decision by a car co in my memory.

Yep, I agree. I went back to the 22s before selling. 20s look small on here, even smaller on the X6. 22s is the way to go. Ride quality was def better on the 20s, along with less road noise -- but it didn't make the X5 look 'right' to me anymore.

The X5 is a fantastic ride, and it really grew on me towards the end of the 6 month ownership! It is truly one of the best all around cars I owned. It looks great, roomy, sounds great and pulls so hard with the V8. It is the most comfortable car I have owned as well. I am moving out of it as one of my long term dream cars came up for sale in a spec that I wanted and I just couldn't say no! Reveal will be this Friday. Thanks for stopping by!!

The BMW X5 is a nice vehicle but it's definitely not roomy. My 2024 Honda CR-V, although it's considered a compact size SUV has more space inside it than the X5 as a mid size SUV. This is not good as the outside dimensions of the X5 are significantly bigger than the outside of the CR-V. I think Honda probably knows how to design the interior of their vehicles the best when it comes to space, specially in rear leg room and trunk areas even more so.

We recently had a chance to test the Tesla Model Y and that also surprisingly had significantly more rear seat room then the X5! It's adequate, but gets very tight with car seats. The trunk room is plenty on here though. Thanks for stopping by!

This segment suv thing will always be stupid to me. Compact large vehicle? Mid-size large vehicle? Large vehicle? It’s suv all of them are huge compared to sedans and estates.

@@gaara4667 Surprisingly manufacturers are getting better and betters at meshing driving dynamics closer to a sedan with these SUVs. Nowadays they don't sacrifice 'much' and give you the higher seating position w/extra room to boot all around. Pros/cons to them all. Thanks for stopping by!

This one was only kept 5 months :). Typically I don't hold cars longer then 6-12 months hence why I never end up putting too many miles on any. Thanks for stopping by!
