I understand what your saying about over-processing images. I tend to maybe editing my images more than you recommend, and I have told my self to be more careful. That said, things change. We have (or have had) a period where stock agencies ask for images which pop. Images with strong colors have been very popular, but trends changes quickly. My advise is to edit raw images carefully in a way they look good. If the trend is strong colors do that, and if the trend is soft colors do that. I think there is a lot of customers who want a finish image, and not necessarily an image that needs to be processed. But as I said, I agree with you that the images should leave some possibilities left for the buyer :) Another good video :) :)

Thank you for watching. It’s a question if we’re talking about microstock or traditional stock photography. I work with traditional stock photography agencies were buyers are pros willing to pay more for better quality and possibly exclusivity and to be able to design final product.

@@Vladimiradventurephotography To be honest I'm not quite sure whats the difference between microstock and traditional stock. I'm a GI contributor and doing quite well even if my images perhaps sometimes are to much edited ;) Another thing... people always tell me it's so hard to sell images without people, but thats not my experience. If you take images that stands out from the crowd you can sell landscape and nature images too :) Let me now if you need tips for your trip to Lofoten :)

Difference is in microstock like Shutterstock you are getting 33c a sale, in traditional like Alamy I am getting on average $32-35 per license, which is a bad joke compared to 10 years ago, but still 100 times more. In respect to people images, for me they selling better than the rest, but I'm still selling my travel, landscapes, still life and more. I'm sharing my experience and opinion, not telling people what to do. Never.

@@Vladimiradventurephotography I really think that we are quite agreed. I just wanted to say it's not black and white, but my English may be a bit limited. You gave some good advises. Have a nice weekend :) By the way... that's a very good average. If you sell a lot of images through Alamy you must do well :) My avearge is much lower, but I'm quite satiesfied ;) :)

Vladimir thank you so much for your honest review about the pictures! That pictures where some of the first that I had sent to the agencies and like you said they hardly get sold... in the last time a started to do more specific pictures for stock and hope that I’ll get some results :) Great tip about the over editing... I didn’t thought about that fact that the clients would have more “space” to work on my pictures... probably I still need some time to get more in a buyers mind instead of the artistic mind. Would be interesting to do a part two of this Q&A in a couple of months 👍 Enjoy finally the nice weather.

Totally agree with most of what you said Vladimir. Except, as you know, agencies don't sell images. They sell the rights to use images.

You need to sign up stock photo agency like Shutterstock or some other. Just google stock photo agency and read their requirements. Subscribe to my KZfaq.

Great info. Would you consider making a video about editing and what would be the right amount of processing? Or would that delve too far into your trade secrets? Haha

Your suggestion is to not proccess any of the images? Cause I understand the point of kepping the raw material so agencies can edit your images as they want, but I think that editing photos also attracts other costummers that probably wouldn't have bought it, don't you think so? Please let me your point of view.
@Vladimiradventurephotography
@Vladimiradventurephotography 5 жыл бұрын
Agencies don’t do anything with your files, they are in business of licensing, not editing. I didn’t suggested not to edit your images, but rather be reasonable about it.

@@Vladimiradventurephotography Okey, I understand, you mean make the images attracting but without messing the image with the editing so they have the liberty to edit it.
