In today's video I'll be showing you how to clean out dust and dirt from your PlayStation 5 console. Like any electronic device, the PS5 collects dust and dirt when used frequently. Luckily for us Sony made it easy to clean out the PS5 and remove dust. We can also go a step further and take apart the PS5 to thoroughly clean it out. I'll be showing you both techniques in this video so feel free to skip to the technique you want to use.

cant wait to do this as my PS5 is turning off without warnings.. just mid game.. fifa // cod // and i cleaned the fans which were very dusty so now i think that the heatsinks are completely clogged..

I am using this guide right now and it took away a lot of my anxiety. I will not go all the way, it did not look dusty at all. I had bought a computer vacuum that came to great use. I do repair computers including micro soldering but my PS5 is near and dear to me. Playing video games is a good way to relax and knowing it is going to be clean will keep it going for another year. I tend to do this once a year when Spring arrives.

i hate that they make you take it almost completly apart to be able to reach the psu vents. main problem with ps5 is those vents getting plugged with dust

For the basic clean, I just use my home vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. It’s pretty effective.

Is there a different way to clean out the dust catchers without a vacuum? I don’t own one of the smaller low powered ones and feel afraid going near it with a vacuum

What vacuum cleaner would you recommend? Was thinking of getting a handheld one off of Amazon for around $30. I heard static in household vacuums can kill your console.

I used this electric air duster in this video: amzn.to/3Ye0vIj Antistatic vacuums specifically can be a lot more expensive (around $500). A lot of companies market dust blowers as "vacuums" or they will say that a vacuum that causes static is antistatic. Avoid fake vacuums as they can damage the internals. In my experience a dust blower (canned or electric) works just fine.

Thank you for the help. Watch out for 9:40 I think one of the red arrows is pointing to a screw hole that is intended for the top right corner of the disc drive screws and should instead be placed in the hole inside the indentation of the metallic piece. Something tiny that had me confused during the reassembly. One again thank you for the tutorial!

I’ve heard from other people that using an air duster isn’t recommended. Is it true it can push dust in, or is it fine as long you don’t misuse it?

I've never had an issue using an air duster with any kind of electronics. I see why someone might think dust would get pushed further into the console but in reality it usually gets blown out or at the very least loosened

I dont understand why people don’t do these two things.. 1) when not in use place a dust cover over the ps5(make sure ps5 is completely shut off) 2) try to place horizontal if possible( placing the ps5 vertically is just asking for more dust to drop right in

It’s actually T8H. Has to have the hole in the middle. Normal T8 is solid and doesn’t work that good

Using the vacuum in the hole Sony provided for cleaning will be fine. If you use it around any other components deeper inside of the PS5 then you do risk discharging static and damaging the PS5

I use an iFixIt kit but all you need is a screwdriver with a medium sized philips and a T8 bit

I didn't knew static could damage the PS5, I use a cover for my PS5 when I'm not using it as there is too much dust build up at my place. Would the static from the cover affect it too?

They have dust covers for the PS5 that sticks around the air vents, unless you have an after market plate that has extra vent holes

You need to lift the corner and then it should slide across with a little force

You need to lift just a little on the playstation logo side and slide the left(logo on right side) at the same time. Be careful cause I bought after market plates and broke some tabs that lock it in place so I wasted $40
