Semponiums are a ground breaking world first hybrid between Aeoniums, native to the Canary Islands and Sempervivums. These intergeneric hybrids have created an entirely new selection of large growing succulents that are considerably more cold hardy than their Aeonium parentage. These stunning new Semponium succulents were bred in Cornwall by the team at Surreal Succulents. The 3 selected Semponium cultivars shared in this video were all seedlings from the same batch, showing how much genetic variability these striking new plants have. Semponium 'Destiny' won Chelsea plant of the year in 2022, with its dinner plate sized rosettes that remain dark purple throughout winter. Semponium 'Sienna' is vigorous and flushes intensely red under summer sun. Semponium 'Diamond' is satisfyingly geometric, with diamond shaped leaves at its centre and a thick stout stem.

I wish I could buy from you from over seas. I’ve ordered and bought plants from other countries before with a phyto certificate and have had good luck with growing them after. They go through a little bit of a shock of course after import so require extra care. I’m very tempted by those new hybrids! Hopefully they’ll be available here in the states too soon.

I have heard conflicting advise about water and feeding. If I understand correctly we do not water or feed in the summer. Fall through spring is a growth period for watering and feeding. Please correct if I am wrong. Thank you..

Mine died last year even under glass and in pots, so take care with young plants. Large aeonium on the other hand were fine…

Are these F2s or beyond? I'm no geneticist but I was under the impression that F1 hybrids all look similar.

I believe these are F1. F1 hybrids will always show degrees of variation, that’s why plants breeders have to be selective about which seedlings to grow on. Some F1 hybrids are more reliably similar than others.

I was going to purchase until I seen shipping was £8.99 for a small plug plant. That is extortionate and has put me off.

No worries, unfortunately we can’t ship for less than the courier charges us.

@GrowParadise that's fair enough but there's a lot cheaper couriers out there. I've bought and sold plants for years and never charged or been charged £8.99.
