I wish we had more like him in our Canadian Senate. Unfortunately, ours are not elected, with term limits, but appointed as a reward for loyalty to the party led by whoever the Prime Minister of the day happens to be. They are NOT independent as the government claims but simply rubber stamp whatever legislation the House of Commons passes.
