I'm a Texan and Ted Cruz is a patriot. We need more of those like him.

We need more foreign born and raised sons of Cuban army fighters who put Fidel Castro into power? And who shut down the government of the United States? Wow, your definition of patriotism sounds like that of the Confederacy.

Growing up in Texas, this letter was part of the 7th grade Social Studies curriculum. I remember long nights memorizing this speech, and because I did, it has more meaning for me now. Thank you, Senator Cruz, for doing what you do in Washington, and may the politics inside the Beltway never change you.

Senator Cruz is one of the ONLY Senators who is doing what his State sent him to do...FIGHT. And God bless him. I wish we in CA had a patriot like him to represent us....or even one willing to do their damn job. Lucky Texans. And lucky for the rest of us that someone is willing to fight...not only for Texas, but for the Constitution we ALL lived under until it came under assault.

I'm sure the men at Benghazi felt the same way as Travis, but like Travis no one came to their rescue, to quote "What difference does it make now...Hillary R. Clinton."

The difference is Hillary left them to die safe and sound and Travis gave his men a chance to leave and they didn’t

People have forgotten our history, or more like the schools stopped teaching it! It is so imperative that we change our curriculum in our schools and turn back and I mean way back where learning our history takes precedence. I am over 60 and I learned more about our countries history from Glenn Beck's the Blaze than I was ever taught in school. It made me angry that I wasn't taught the things that matter, the things that made us proud and patriots of our country so many decades later. I had never heard this letter before and thank you for reading it. It shows us the Patriotism of Travis and all those who died with him! I can see how the left twisted our history or made it exempt and its not right. Its time to get rid of the left minded liberal bullcrap out of our schools!

I agree "God bless Texas" I am proud that my ancestor is Lt. Col. William Barret. When I visited The Alamo I was shocked to find there wasn't a street named after Travis. If I remember correct There was a MLK blvd. maybe Sen. Cruz you could do something about this injustice. I know Col. Travis would appreciate it.. Thank you, Lester Alexander Caldwell Dixon. P.S I bet you didn't know Col. Travis was related to Vice Pres. John Caldwell Calhoun.

One of the command ers, who was in charge of attacking the weak palisade, where crockett and men guarded. A Mexican leader commented after the fall of the Alamo, these men fought with such fury, it awed the attackers. They gave their best shot, even tho all odds were against them .remember the Alamo indeed!

I agree. This letter rings true of Cruz's mission to turn America around today. He's under attack and receiving cannonade from his own Republican caucus, but the conservative flag still waves proudly. He's calling for Repuiblicans to unite and come to his aid, but if it is neglected, he will fight to the bitter end, without retreat or surrender. Senator, you have not lost a man! We will continue to be in your corner, echoing these principles. #CruzCalvary #Cruz2Victory2016

Cruz, s/have read Santa Anna's Victory letter to the War Minister in Mexico City; it starts out, "Victory Goes with the Mexican Army, at 8:15, the army achieved a total victory...." THIS was the first notice to the world that the Alamo had fallen! Crockett surrendered to the Mexican soldiers, only to be killed moments later. Travis committed suicide at the north wall, when he saw all was lost. Bowie was found hiding under his bed covers, and killed on the spot. It's nice to see that Cruz and Texas celebrates a Mexican victory every year!
