I'm truly amazed on what congress & the senate are doing now. They are scrumbling to pass a bill for the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise that expired last May 4, 2020 when there are pending bills declared by the president as priority public bills that need to be acted upon. Is there something behind it? I'm just asking, because, for now Congress is still deliberating the proposed bill for that issue, yet, the senators were also doing the same actions for what? Why can they not wait for congress to submit to them the bill approved by the congressmen before they conduct a session to tackle that particular issue & introduce their amended version for concurrence by congress & thereafter for approval by the president. I could not understand why both houses are in a hurry to give such franchise to ABS-CBN. Are these congressmen & senators not interested to know the reasons why the 16th & 17th congress kept the ABS-CBN application for renewal unattended? Are they not also willing to hear & know the various complaints lodged against ABS-CBN by its former employees & entities, including unpaid taxes, penalties & ownership issue? Only God knows...

So finally they decided to go on for the renewal hearing instead of the provisional franchise, go ABS CBN get your franchise renewed

How can Sen Hontiveros be in favor of giving ABS-CBN a franchise when her proposed amendment to the bill they're debating on asks to make the network a 'pro-worker'. In essence she is stating that ABS-CBN is NOT a 'pro-worker' network. Hmmm.

ABS-CBN can not sell their franchise now as was suggested by President Duterte. The non issuance of Franchise means no franchise to sell. Although its asset resources ( transmitters towers, stations, lines, buildings, equipments and others can still be sold. All employees will be laid off. It is up to the buyer ( of these assets) to re-employ them. This is of course if they get a new franchise and they should be assigned the same radio frequency, now denied to ABS-CBN. If I am ABS-CBN, I'll just sell it. Another billionaire can buy it but it will not be scrutiny free especially those who are lambasted in its broadcastings. Anyone will be afraid to- the Cutthroat Mentality of Vested Few.

The main issue is "are we for the advancement of our broadcasting technology. So we want a far and wide range telecommunication broadcasting. Can any other network other than ABS-CBN and GMA cover the cost of radio and TV telecommunication industry. These are the cost of maintaining radio towers transmitters to relay either analog and or digital transmissions. What if we don't have cable boxes, how can we get the most of the best broadcasting in the country. How can we view our favorite TV drama series, be enlighten as to what's happening 'locally and around the world, be updated on oncoming disaster, calamites etc.
