In this video Golfmates Hero & golfing legend OMP - with over 50 years CAT 1 handicap experience takes me on over a 4 holes match at Chorlton Cum Hardy Golf Club, but with a TWIST.
I play off the tips, known as the back or competition Tees & Pat will play from the RED forward tees. This evens things up & gives PAT around 260 yard advantage so receives no SHOTS. This is a great idea to help all golfing abilities enjoy the game more by teeing off based on your current skill level or distance. Golf should be FUN FOR EVERYONE and this might help seniors or even speed up the pace of play.
Pat known as OMP (fairway finder) is still enjoying his Benross clubs but has always wanted to try Callaway irons.

OMP missed a fairway and you still couldn't beat him. Great idea for a video. I really think clubs should encourage some older members to play from front tees and allow it in comps. Keep these legends competitive and enjoying their golf for as long as possible and passing on their wisdom! Enjoy that pint OMP!

It might miss up competition because of Stroke index adjustments. Some holes are easier / more difficult from alternative tees.

George from USA here. Great video!! I know everyone is aware that your handicap is what determines which tee you should play from. Having been a golf instructor, I hate seeing people play from tees that are longer than their ability. I encourage people to play from the correct tee. It makes the game more enjoyable, gives you more confidence, puts everyone on equal footing off the tee for the next shot and you play better. Love all your videos, all the players and the comradery you all have!!

I said early on in the year that OMP should hit off more forward tees and then watch how good the matches get.. his new nickname should be OMP "the Major" because he's now the guy who can lead his team into battle with his expert knowledge and skill set.. just look how he settled Liam down advising a bump and run on the last hole which resulted in a well deserved All Square match.. great video

Any video with OMP is a great one, but this was extra enjoyable to watch! In some ways, nothing changed bc OMP was still Mr. Consistent, and you relied on your short game & putting to pull out the draw. The big difference was seeing OMP enjoy his game more & that’s what really matters isn’t it

This how we always do it in Sweden (when anybody starts to lose distance). Just play from the right tee for the distance you have with your drive and go further back if you hit them longer and straighter. (We have different tees for a reason.) 👍⛳

Gotta love Pat's sheer honesty whenever asked if he's scared, intimidated, or unsure. The answer is always a solid "oh, no". And why not. I believe I've seen maybe two videos period where he wasn't nailing the fairway. And in those two (out of what, a few hundred?) videos he showed class and humility when judging his own game. But even during those videos his answer remained the same when asked if he was worried about his game. Hope to see another Liam and his Pop versus OMP and Mr. Barlow match. The audio alone is priceless during those.

This is what I said earlier. Rather than giving shots to someone on a hole, which essentially means that the person getting the shot will at worst TIE the hole (provided he doesn't play with his head up his backside), let that person tee off on a forward tee, for SHOT holes. If there's a big age difference, forward tees for all holes.

Mr Pat is my inspiration and golf hero. I am 57 years old with a fused neck and spine. I also have osteoarthritis in both knees that require injections every other year. I mention all this because i have tried every swing method. I recently decided to use the OMP swing and have had great success. Not only are your tips awesome, but your whole golf philosophy. Playing within ones ability and distance. This video is awesome. the advice to play the tees you are comfortable with is truly encouraging. I hope I’m playing when I’m as old as the great OMP. thank you for being a role model for us older folk. For the record, i have a build like Mr. Barlow, so imagine Barlow with a Pat swing.

It's just a different way of handicapping - distance instead of strokes. As I'm getting older (56 on Friday) and have a few medical problems, I'm getting sick of hitting Driver then 3 wood or 5 wood. Driver - 7 iron is much more fun and that's what it's all about

My dad is in his seventies and he's lost quite a bit of distance in the past years, diminishing his love for the game. I asked him to move to the forward tees and he's enjoying golf so much more after that. Having said that, any video with OMP puts a smile on my face. 😁

Brilliant idea. Love to see Pat so happy with his game and I think this is a great way to level the game between players of different abilities. This method will work both for players who are new to the game as well as Great Grand Masters like OMP. I also like the fact that it's stroke play, no shots given. I cant tell you guys how happy this video makes me, every time I watch OMP he reminds me of my 89 year old Dad in Dublin who I haven't seen in almost 18months. I just love seeing Pat so happy on the course, have a few scoops for me lads and keep up the great content. More OMP please !!!
