Okamoto sensei is still in great shape in his age of 83. His current techniques are even much better than this video. He still teaches us every class by his hands. What a great sensei he is.

Okamoto sensei demonstrates Aiki mastery. I am always amused by those who watch Daito-ryu videos on the internet and think they understand. You simply cannot understand without having practiced and felt what a master can do. But if you think you "know", well who am I to argue. Only you can convince yourself otherwise. I invite you to attend any true Daito-ryu school and feel this stuff for yourself.

Only to repeat what I previously posted. If you want to understand - go to a Dojo and experience it for yourself - perhaps you will find that it is BS, but maybe you won't. Talk is empty without the experience to back it up.

The complicity on the fall is actually fall breaking, if you grab strongly and don't fall you'll end with your fingers dislocated. Besides, it's not necesarily the ki that he's using, it's a careful manipulation of pain trough joint locks to the wrist. I agree that they "fly" too much, but some things can't be done without hurting your partner. Even self defense systems are practiced with an eye on safety. See the videos about Ogawa ryu, they are very fast and reallistic in their approach.

This is NOT fake! Nor are the uke roll happy, this is pure Aiki, if youve even been on the recieving end of this level of technique, you WILL understand! A master of Aiki has mastered the ability to control ones balance through manipulation of one muscluar/skeletal structure, either roll or land flat on your face; worse end up in extreme pain or serious injury! Its just Physics & Physiology! Of course there is a solid foundation of JuJutsu behind these highly advanced Aiki techniques!

Judo is a sport, meant for and designed with fair play, and one-on-one combat in mind. Judo isn't going to help you survive being attacked by 3 guys with baseball bats and knives wearing motorcycle helmets. Aikido and jujitsu can teach you how to do that. Your ignorance is surpassed only by your eloquence.

I'm always amazed at the number of Aikido people who say they have been attacked. It seems there is an awful lot of muggings of Aikidokas going on because so many of them claim they've been repeatedly attacked and Aikido saved them. Well I don't know what kind of places all you aikido guys hang out in, but I'd be more convinced if I saw aikido actually used successfully in a competition. So far I have seen absolutely zero. How about one video example, just one?

If the point behind Aikido was to "devastate" your opponent, you woul be right. As it is, Aikido focuses solely on you surviving a lethal attack, not macho bullshit in rings with referees and rules and a set time and place.

In many techniques it looks like the Ukes become paralyzed and they cant move. What you can say about that?
@Patroels
@Patroels 3 жыл бұрын
That is achieved by provoking Uke’s conditioned reflexes with timing and circular breath. In the video Sensei says to start the technique before Uke grabs hold.

Actually, thats not true. What he is using is VERY much so, ki. Its a little different in the sense of technique in what I do, but the energy use/ approach is the same. You have to let got because you are being thrown. You could grab on, put you'll end up slipping your hands out from his wrise anyway so there is really no point. However, daitoryu (other than takumakai) has no joint emphasis, but just is throwing your opponent with aiki.

Blndrfist, the Sensei is there to teach, you are there to learn. You go to a firing range to learn how to shoot do you a) listen as you are told about how to aim, reload, safety on/off or b)shoot the person teaching you and laugh about it? You most likely got here from a "jujitsu" search looking for MMA/UFC/BJJ stuff. I'd suggest that if you are interested in that stuff you go to your local dojo/fight club and do a demo class, i'm sure that some of there stuff is fake ;-)

This is not Aikido. Aikido contains 1/100 of Daito Ryo's technics. US SEAL uses Aikijiujitsu as H2H fight style. You may ask them to demonstrate.

Hey, Blndrfist, why don't you just go to a teacher like that one and spend the 20 bucks it might cost to participate in a seminar? First of all the Sensei here is only "demonstrating" possible "techniques" ... what would be the point if the attacker would always try to trick the Sensei, so he never can show the "intended" technique?

How convenient for Aikidoka practitioners. They can continue to claim what a devastating fighting style it is without having to show proof.

It's much harder to take on Multiple attackers than pin one unarmed guy. A proficient Aikidoka would have no trouble negating a single attacker. You do know Judo is from the orient, right? That it was developed from the same samurai arts as Aikido and Jujitsu? You have achieved nothing but making yourself sound like a fool.

Yeah, nothing magical about this. Push up to make the enemy rise up onto his toes. After that it is very, very easy to twist him down just like turning a steering wheel, or pull him down and to the side like like pulling on a church bell rope. Rise and drill, sink and overturn. Or push pull to make the enemy over-commit in one direction, and use his momentum against him. It does not take any strength at all. It is why Sumo wrestlers take a low, flat footed stance and keep their bodies upright. If even one heel gets lifted off the ground, or you lean in any direction, your goose is cooked. Physics, yo. That being said, these Ukes are faking it big time so the "master" does not lose face. Anyone with half a decent wrestling background will not let himself be thrown easily. Technique gives you a great advantage that is sorely needed when facing larger, stronger enemies, but it is still going to be difficult, and it is still going to hurt. It is not magic.

Conventional strength resistance don't work against aiki. Go try, u will know if i am lying or not.
@gatocles99
@gatocles99 3 жыл бұрын
@@ccdev You are lying. I have been wrestling and practicing martial arts since before you were born. Conventional strength, and conventional strength training is PART of Aikido. If you are too weak, you will not be able to do the techniques. Ueshiba was very strong, and had an iron grip, even when he was old. And in wrestling, the Aiki principle is very much utilized by first pulling one way, and then quickly changing direction for a take down, or by flowing with the opponent, to use the opponents reaction against him. And again, no decent wrestler. western or Sumo, allows himself to be unbalanced so easily.
