The Summa, may well be the greatest work by anyone, the guy is clearly the equal of Augustine, and he may be a bit better. I personally have a liking of Augustine, but my goodness a person has to read the Summa ! It should be suggested to anyone who has a view of theological issues.

St Augustine is pretty good, but to read St Thomas is to read St Augustine and the rest of the Church Fathers. He was so learned in them, that he literally has no match as a theologian and philosopher

@@siquike90 My point was that Thomas had what 800 or so years of reflection to go on, and yes he was flat out brilliant, but Augustine on the Trinity is unmatched, and I am just a bit more comfortable with his way of explaining things, the debate rages, I imagine. Two titans.

Follow the steps of the Saints. There are many, and you can pray to them asking for their intercession and help, of course. You should choose one that inspires you, or that you feel more familiarized with it. And never forget to keep devotion to Our Lady.

🤔 after a vision, Aquinas threw his writings in the fire, quoting; everything I have written is like straw. 🤔 I think 💭 Aquinas finally realized that his arguments are nothing more than assertions 😮.

Unfortunatley Saint Thomas wasnt a very good biblical exegete. His commentaries read like a systematic theologian projecting his own theology into a text from time to time. Saint Thomas lack of principled exegesis faithful to the grammar and authors intent is one reason why the academy has moved away from Saint Thomas. Saint Thomas was a great systematic theologian.
