I attended All Souls Day Mass yesterday evening. Had been feeling rotten for some time. All alone and missing my parents and angry at the clergy for the pain they had caused. Was God working against me or with me I kept questioning? Returning home, I turned on my youtube and this video slowly pops up. My Lord spoke thru this video as He has done numerous times in the past. Tq Father.

I receive so much spiritual wisdom and love these talks... Unfortunately, father Ripperger and father Alar should not mention the T_ _ _ _ word. He says people overreact negatively to that person apparently he missed the latest on one of his hate motivated and violence encouraged follower who tried to murder Pelosis husband. How could anyone on this planet possibly "overreact" to that person. Strange.

@@johnpglackin345 You are ignorant about mental health, as well as the “three conditions necessary for grave matter to be elevated to mortal sin.” If a person has schizophrenia and fully believes the voice of God is telling himself to kill himself, as this person does not have the faculties to discern reason- this is not mortal sin. It’s not even Venial sin! Not every suicide is mortal sin. Probably very few are. Only God knows the percentage. You are also ignorant of the well-known St. John Vianney story where a man, who committed suicide, went to heaven as he repented on his way down from his jumping off a bridge. Perfect contrition also absolves mortal sin. This is in the Catechism as well! This is the teaching of the Catholic Church. Your teaching comes from heretical Pharisee beliefs. Learn the truth instead of being lazy. God’s greatest attribute is mercy-as told to St. Faustina.

As a parent I always try to imagine the offensive/ evil/ disordered, etc. person (think Hitler, any heretical hierarchical figure, whoever makes you think I can't pray for that person) as my own child. That's how God sees us. Everyone, good or evil, He wants for us to repent and be with Him in Heaven, right? That's what helps me to pray for them. And I also think, I don't want another soul for satan. Let's all pray for these people. We all need prayers for final perseverance.

Dear Fr. Ripperger, I'm not sure if you will even see this comment, but I'm wondering if you could do some commentary/video on guiding parents as to how to prepare their children, especially very young children, well, without fear and without a warped image of God, for the upcoming times we are living in and may be living through. We have regular discussions in our household on reframing fear into the context of mercy and God's love and His desire for our good despite tragedy, necessary justice and the necessity for acquiring virtue for difficulty and salvation. Nonetheless cataclysmic events still seem terrifying to young children despite love and discussion within the confines of a loving faithful Catholic home. I am desiring to know appropriate boundaries between what to share and what not to inform them of, dependent upon age and maturity, knowing that, incumbent upon God's will, I may not be here to guide my children through coming chastisement. Through God's mercy I have been healed from much fear I absorbed from my parents and SSPX community I was part of regarding such discussions (much of it happened when I was very young with no proper discussion, etc.) And I wary of repeating the pattern in my own life with my own family. I know I am just one soul amoung many and you are very busy with God's work so if you cannot answer this request I understand and know of my prayers for you and gratitude to Our Lord for discovering your work mere days ago through You Tube. God bless you Father. Stay the course.

It's not that individuals or people don't have 'enough' righteousness to vote correctly or take reasonable actions. It's because individuals tend to compartmentalize and do by habit. That is, individuals have a history of voting a certain way or doing something a certain way. Many such individuals are fine people and want to do the right action or thing but their psyche is trained. Prayers could, can, might do some hi Jack or heck into such. But it might take a lot of prayers. It's like an addiction, one must admit and confront one's situation to make a change. In the meantime get righteous and pray for oneself. Maybe the carry over will help the overall situation.

Otherwise I must close my eyes, but then I miss the beautiful icons and cathedral images, which are peaceful. Thank you very much

Father is is off topic but I don’t know where to ask: what is it called when someone starts a lot of things but then never finishes it ? I have a lot of books laying around, for example, that I start but never finish. That pattern is repeated in a lot of other areas of my life. I partly finished things I sewn, partly finished television series I’ve watched. It’s really disturbing that I do this and I’m starting to think that it’s a vice but I don’t know what it’s called. It’s not laziness but an aversion to finishing things. Help please. Any Catholic teachings on this ?

The Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen had something on this in his seven last words of Christ in the Passion. It corresponds to the Seven Deadly Sins. If I remember correctly, the words “It is finished” is the mantra we should have when we are battling sloth. Sloth is the double whammy of not wanting to do something and being overcome by excessive sorrow. The main remedy for Sloth is engaging in prayer, asking God for help in dealing with such an oppressive vice, even forming a particular devotion to Our Lady would make your heart less inclined to wander into sorrowful thoughts and mistakes. It was one of Paul’s letters that talks about Apostles who are sitting by the roadside not sure what to do with their faith (unless that was Acts, which it was most likely in the Paul half of the Acts of the Apostles). We are given an infused grace because the Holy Spirit at Pentecost descended on the Congregation gathered in Jerusalem. If you want an easy to follow guide to Thomas Aquinas’ Discussion of the Seven Deadly Sins, I would pick up Dr Kevin Vost’s book called The Seven Deadly Sins. I recommend it to any lay person along with Theology of the Body for Beginners by Dr Christopher West because the language itself is complex for uncultured ears if you read the more condensed Aquinas or JPII.

@@MissPopuri Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me ❤️. I guess I really don’t understand the 7 deadly sins very well. I am going to try to find that book you mentioned. I never thought about Jesus’ words “It is finished “ in this light before. That’s pretty powerful.

Do you know what temperament you are? Because I’m the same and from what I’ve heard and read it’s typical of very sanguine people. We get easily excited by and interested in new things, but we tend to have a hard time keeping it up over time. Fr. Ripperger has an excellent conference on the temperaments, I highly recommend it :)

The solution is to finish one small tiny task. Then another. Then another. Then you will create a new habit. As scripture says [paraphrasing] “Until you master the small things, you will not be trusted wit the big things.” Reward yourself with each completed task, no matter how small and give God thanks as “all things work together for those that love Him.” Peace. PS- and don’t beat yourself up...this is the devil at play. Read, “Searching for and Maintaining peace” by Fr. Jacques Phillipe. It’s a small tiny book. You will finish it.

I'm having such a hard time not being angry at fellow Catholics who vote for the abortion-advocating candidates. Some of these Catholics I personally know. Should we speak up to them?

Doesn't the Blessed Virgin Mary exercise supernatural charity to a unique extent beyond the capacity of any lesser creature, even their ability to comprehend it? Saints and the Angels see part of that extent, but God keeps it hidden for Himself in a sealed garden to which she alone has access.

I was SO interested to hear this talk because, as a senior lady who is disabled, I have experienced a good deal of uncharitable behavior toward me that, in my day, was just unheard of. I was disappointed to hear first thing that Fr. Ripperger started with politics, and he gave credibility to the slanderous "trump derangement syndrome," which is just an insult invented by Trump supporters I was startled when I heard Fr. Ripperger give it credibility! It does not make sense for someone as brilliant as Fr. Ripperger to advocate for something that is blatantly, certifiably false. The cognitive dissonance just kills me. I can only tell myself that, for some reason, he has a blind spot when it comes to this particular topic. I stil recommend Fr. Ripperger to every Catholic I know, but I have to warn them off of the political content because they've all seen the proofs of Trump's corruption, lies and crimes, To be clear, I really think that resorting to politics will not fix that situation and is not what we are meant to do. Politics REFLECTS our condition. We need to develop virtue and remove our vices, and do all the other spiritual remedies that the good Father recommends and then THAT will be reflected in a positive way in our politics. Anyway, I intend to follow Fr. Ripperger's advice about spiritual practices, prayers, meditation, and that sort of thing. His political opinion is something I just have to grit my teeth and ignore.

Fr Paul Mankowski, "What Went Wrong?" (after the Long Spring if 2002) Paradoxically, one of the major factors in the corruption of clerical life at the end of the 20th century was its strength at the beginning of it. Here I quote from James Hitchcock: A gloomy fact about clerical life is that, with the possible exception of the very early centuries, there was no time in the Church’s history when such life was idyllic. The Middle Ages had their share of misbehaving priests, and the ordinary parish clergy were uneducated and part of a peasant culture which was in some ways still pagan. The Counter-Reformation made strenuous efforts to improve the state of the clergy, not least through the establishment of that institution which ought to have been obvious but for some reason had not been - the seminary. Even despite these efforts, clerical scandals and various kinds of clerical incompetence long continued, amidst occasional saintly priests and many others of solid piety and zeal. In the United States the period cl900-l960 can be considered a golden age of the priesthood, not merely in modern times but throughout all the Catholic centuries. (This golden age was not confined to America but existed in other countries as well.) While priests of that era certainly had their faults, by all measurable standards there was less ignorance, less immorality, less neglect of duty, and less disobedience than at almost any time in the history of the Church. More positively, priests of that era were generally pious and zealous, and those who were not at least had to pretend to be.
