Father, I am so grateful for you. Your remark on the lack of shame for one’s own ignorance is particularly rampant. I thank God for your teaching, which has helped this adult convert identify the depths of her sins, and to repent of and confess them (weekly). May He give me the grace to continue the good fight, bolstered in large part by wisdom from holy priests like you. Praying for you and learning from you all the time.

He's so right about how natural you become as you grow in virtue and the spiritual life. I think my mannerisms have become more normal since I started walking down this path. It wasn't even something I've practiced but it just started clicking. I'm also more aware of my eccentricities, especially after focusing on growing in humility. Because humility keeps you grounded you realize all the weird or unnatural stuff about you.

In Southern European countries you have to yell even louder to be heard in a restaurant full of people than in the US. It's central and northern Europe where people seem to understand the value of speaking at an appropriate volume.

What about emotional eating or eating out of boredom? Are they forms of gluttony? Are they mortal or venial?
@sam12587
@sam12587 2 ай бұрын
Yes it’s gluttony. Depends on the priest. I treat it as mortal but I’m not a priest. I figured out I did it due to anxiety and that anxiety was due to fear. If I have fear then I’m not trusting trusting in Gods wisdom. Everyone is different and I don’t know you so please don’t take my above description as more then a well intended example :)

The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association (PTAA) is a Catholic based temperance movement against alcohol consumption. You can do a year or for life. The rules are very simple and can be found on line. I drink alcohol but signed up with the PTAA for a year. Apart from the discipline, I'm curious as to how I'll react.

You don't need to, it's expensive, unhealthy and can lead to addiction . Have a cup of tea or water. Stay free from the slavery of addictions and bad habits.

Who knew it's a mortal sin to get drunk? I watch these videos and I think uh oh... so many things you're not aware of.But it's only a mortal sin if you're aware that it is? and do it knowingly. What else have I done? yikes.

It's good to learn that I didn't know that. But it makes sense because you could put your life and the lives of others in danger.
