Sentinels of the Multiverse is back, and better than ever! With all-new art, notably streamlined mechanics, and new stories to experience, this is the award-winning cooperative comic-book card game you’ve been waiting for!
Sentinels of the Multiverse is a cooperative game in which each player controls a Hero, using their powers, abilities, and wits to work together with their fellow Heroes and save the world!
Each game involves three to five Heroes fighting against one Villain in a perilous Environment. The game is fully cooperative, so the Villain and Environment aren’t run by a dedicated player, but rather are controlled by turning over cards from their decks and following the instructions on those cards.
Each Hero, Villain, and Environment are represented by a deck of cards. Heroes and Villains also have character cards, which provide their Hit Points and other information specific to that character.
The game starts with the Villain turn, then each of the Heroes in turn order clockwise around the table. The round ends with the Environment turn. After the Environment turn, repeat the round, starting with the Villain turn! The game continues in this order until the Heroes save the Multiverse, or the Villain defeats the meddling Heroes, one way or another.?

5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

Love this game! I played the Enhanced Edition years ago but stopped because of how complex and fiddly everything became, but Definitive Edition has completely hooked me back in! It for sure is not a perfect game, but I have tons of fun with it and it’s one of my most played games. Rook City Renegades is incredible too, can’t wait for Disparation 🎉

3 was always the minimum number of heroes. Your main complaint is why I like playing 2 player controlling 2 heroes each or solo controlling 3-5 heroes, although I don't think I would mind controlling 1 hero as much in this version as I did in past versions.

I recommend you try to play on advanced mode if you're looking for tougher decisions. Having to decide whether you want to get set up, or to instead deal with the immediate threat, comes into play more when the villain starts to put on the pressure.

I can play this with my 8 year old - I play two characters and he plays with one. It’s great.

That’s pretty much my reply when ever someone says Legendary or Champions does it better. Not saying those games aren’t great (I own both) but try playing them with an 8yo.

Absolutely love this game. I also thought the same as you with the forgetful part of things due to all the moving parts going on when I first began playing and thought it was going to be basically the same, but since they cleaned it up so much more I encourage you to run a bunch of games and watch that go away. After awhile the amount of times I forget things was minimalized to a point where it wasn’t a big deal or not at all. It’s so much better than the original and I loved the original but even after so many playthroughs it was still just too hard to track at times. And I would play 3-handed solo most of the time

Not sure if its worth it for me to get this version when I got the giant big box of the old version. While this is more streamlined with the rules, I feel like not much has really changed. Its really all the same heroes and villains with balance tweaks. I noticed in the current campaign some new villains and terrain being offered, however what will determine if I get it at some point is if my favorite characters Nightmist and Argent Adept are changed too much or not.
@kento6867
@kento6867 Жыл бұрын
Speaking as someone who's played this a ton, it's changed significantly. Argent hasn't changed too much, but Nightmist has changed a ton in how she plays, and multiple other characters and decks are almost unrecognizable. Fanatic has a new mechanic of being significantly stronger below 10 HP, and Megalopolis is actually fun now. :) It's still up to you whether that's worth it, but it's much more than just a reskin or balance patch. Hope that helps!

100 percent. There is so much deck shuffling. If you don’t like shuffling don’t play this game. I also feel some heros in the core game can’t get more than one card out per turn. But I have played the expansion and that is not the case for the expansion. It seems to me only the core game hero’s will have the slowest set up time and all hero’s released from that point will all be able to play more than one card a turn.

I think you should give Rook City Renegades a look. The villains and heroes in it have way more interesting decisions going on and it may be more of what you're looking for. Also, I don't know if you just missed it during your explanation, but I noticed you didn't play a card during Omnitron's play phase.

Does it get boring after playing a few times? I mean it is just the same kind of attack that you do game after game.

Yes because the game feels much faster and every hero feels like they are worth playing.

I agree and disagree with the player count. It really depends on who's on the team you guys chose. A lot of the characters are straight forward and fast, but some of the heroes are definitely long turn characters.

For me it’s this. Hands down. I have both and love both but if I had a choice, SENTINELS all the way. And I’m a huge Marvel fan. But the lore here is very rich as well I fell in love with it over the years it has its own charm. It also comes down to what you may prefer. The hero decks are prebuilt here, but they are all specified toward that specific hero. The card art, the powers, etc. If you like building your own deck them champions would be it for you. Downside there for me is you only get 15 hero specific cards, the remainder of your entire deck will be generic aspect cards. Watching another player throw out a gun card for his hulk with art of rocket raccoon for example would be a reason of why it turns me off a bit and kills immersion for me. This is a loose example and probably won’t happen often but you may see similar situations with other cards. Some cards you may need in your deck for it to function better to the play style you’re looking for and the fluff/flavor/artwork is just… why do I have to put this in my deck. If that doesn’t bother you then cool. Try it out

Probably the biggest question for that is how many players do you expect to have? Marvel is more of a 1-3 player game in my experience and Sentinels uses a minimum of 3 heroes and has faster turns so it makes a better 3-5 player game. I own everything available for both games (minus one villain pack for Marvel) and they just have different strengths and weaknesses. I like the way heroes are in Sentinels more and the way the villains are in Marvel more. I also enjoy being able to just sit down and play without the deck building a lot of the time. I should also mention price. Sentinels DE is FAR cheaper to own than Marvel. There are 6 total releases planned for DE, each $50 with the base being $80. Each release has 9 villains, 6 heroes, and 5 environments (in the core it's 12 heroes and 6 villains). For Marvel even the larger expansions are 2 heroes and 5 villains for a similar price. So if you're on a budget, DE is definitely the way to go.

Depends what you looking for. I have both MC and SoM EE and SoM DE. MC is good for 1-3 player and if you like deck building thing that great for you. Sentinels are great for 3-5 players because player turn is shorter than one in MC. In SoM is simple play, use, draw. Also I love how the decks are build and beeing useful most of the time, there is always some action to do. SoM is ready to play and easier to explain to new players. Also the prize diffrence and what we getting for that money is diffrent topic. For me having Core set and Expansions for SoM is life time game thanks to combinations of heroes, villains and enviroments. But I am crazy fun of lore and both card game and rpg game of GtG.
@erichimmelblau877
@erichimmelblau877 Жыл бұрын
The heros in this this game all feel a lot more unique. In SotM every hero has a completely unique deck with their own mechanics as well as thematic card art for every card. In Marvel Champions, quite a large part of the hero decks are shared between them. For example Thor and Hulk do have their own unique cards, but they both also share a bunch of common cards making them each feel a bit too similar.

Sentinels is a 1 or 2 player game (2 is best). Playing 1 character is not fun for me and it is probably the reason why I don't have your agency problem.
