sang woo did what it took to survive. that’s the entire point of the game. people say it’s immoral, but the game was never meant to be moral at the beginning. sang woo was a beautifully written character.

@@denboix7524 he didnt have a chance but to do those things , for example Ali was a good person and he acted more with heart than with brain and thats why he lost , as for gi hun he won 1 because he thought about sangwoo too which mad sangwoo repent and feel bad about the things he did and kill himself . Because we all know sangwoo would win the game even tho i loved gi hun

Their friends to enemies relationship was the most tragic and intense I have ever seen. They care for each other, but the circumstances don't let them be friends anymore... Forever Wonderful video ❤️

@@corruptedhpslytherin9221 I would say the scene that established their friendship wasnt Gihun trying to save Sangwoo, but Sangwoo reciprocating it by responding to Gihun's earlier musing about their childhood, implying that Sangwoo indeed remembered their friendship

This actually made me cry, the fact that Gi-Hun and Sang-Woo were childhood best friends but one ended up dying, and the fact that Gi-Hun went from being kindhearted to violent as he tried to kill Sang-Woo, and he realised what he did to him at the end. Gi-Hun’s scream is absolutely heartbreaking after Sang-Woo took his own life at the end, great editing skills too, it just shows how desperate they were throughout this that they resorted to killing each other.

He did turn violent, but he remembered that that’s not him. He could have killed Sang Woo two times here but he didn’t.

We didn't get to see much but knowing they were childhood friends is truly heart-wrenching and that Gi hun's kindness letting Sang woo live made him want Gi hun to win, or to simply end his own suffering, tragic but amazing storytelling. This editing and pairing of the scenes took me on a rollercoaster ride, beautiful work.

sangwoo needed the money even more than his own life If gihun gave up everything to save sangwoo, there's no chance for him to get that amount of money. So he eliminated himself so that maybe, with gihun's generosity, his mother won't suffer by his mistake.

At the end, he was doing it all for his mother. Can't blame him. Easy to hate on him from a tv-viewer's point.

Yeah, Sang-Woo was definitely the most realistically written character of the show. If in his position, we all would have done what he did to try and win. Greed is vicious, and the need to win will consume anybody, no matter how good of a person you think you are.

I was honestly surprised I cried as hard as Go Hun at Sang Woo’s last moments. Also Gi Hun’s sobs are heart wrenching. What a performance from his actor.

I cried a lot too, much more than episode 6 which surprised me as well... Maybe the shock factor had something to do with it, in 6 it was purposefully predictable (but still heartbreaking) and in 9 I was like WAIT OMG DID HE JUST STAB HIMSELF WTF

I love how Gi Hun dropped his empathetic nature towards him at the end before the fight, grew a backbone and said everything that needed to be said. Such a good payoff for the character.

This is sad. Sang-woo was one of my favorite characters in the show because I can personally relate to his motivation and I can't hate him for anything he did.

me too. i understand that he killed ali and sae but he did it to survive. honestly i would’ve done the same thing if my life depended on it, i really like sang woo tbh. he’s a very well written character and personality one of my favorites

Sang woo was one of those people "absorbed and thrashed" by the system, he tried and failed to become a succesful/rich man even if everyone expected so from him (being handsome and educated from a prestigious university). During the game he ended up betraying his own allies purposely, to the point he realized to have lost not only his youth goals but also his humanity... in the last game he faced Gi Hun as an empty man, he sacrificed everything for his own survival and a second chance in life. This left him with only 2 options...to win the game in order to justify his bad actions or to die. Coming back alive with Gi Hun was never an option for him, he couldn't have lived a good life knowing what he did during the game and without those money in his bank account always reminding him why he did those things. On the contrary, Gi Hun realized that nothing in the world is true and good if you get it sacrificing yourself and your beliefs.

Yess. There was that interview where the actor nd director were talking about sangwoos actions nd that he might have been jealous of how honest, straightforward and accepting gihun can be which sangwoo is unable to do coz of his pride nd thus kept trying to justify all the shit he did till now which was also wearing him down. He got tired of carrying his mental burdens nd couldn't possibly go out nd live like that without the money so he killed himself.

uhm... "tried and failed to be successful" is a very interesting way to say "invested a lot in stupid high-risk things then committed financial crimes and stole money" as much as I like Sang-woo he was an idiot and an asshole before the Game

@@darkacadpresenceinblood Yeah but gambling and betting money on high risk things is what Gi Hun did as well, at the horse races and slot machines (probably on a smaller scale than Sang woo...). The difference is that Gi Hun has always been a simple man, no one expected a lot from him even if he was good ad heart. Sang woo was the winning horse for his neighbours, the one who studied at the prestigious university and a handsome man, considered to be clever as well.... he had all the cards to succeed in life but still he failed and this is why he was a broken man from the beginning, while Gi Hun had to choose wisely in order to protect his family and friends.

Sang woo was most serious with the game for his mom. He didn't care about his own life and other's lives. He killed himself because Gi hun would take care of his mom.

sang woon the hero who became a villain, in my opinion he did the right thing, which was to survive in a game where everyone fights for their survival and is bribed with money, if it is true that he had no regrets with there and with others, he killed for survive, but in the final fight with his best friend that "sorry" said it all... it made me very nostalgic

Sang woo did what he needed to do to survive never saw him as a bad guy. in fact everything he did you can see it was destroying him. Excellent video excellent performance throughout the whole series.

People don’t give Gihuns character enough credit in the beginning he was just happy go lucky guy and didn’t really get his hands dirty during the game But in the end he grew a backbone and fought his childhood friend to survive just heartbreaking g

It is actually a 9 episode show. I give it a 9.5 out of 10, I recommend you watch the first episode and then make your decision.
