There was a guy named Hyun Jin Young who was being produced by Lee Soo Man (founder of SM Entertainment) who did hip hop style like a year or two before Seo Taiji debuted (in 1990 / 1991).

필승 패션으로 컴백홈 부르는 거 처음 본다... 되게 생경하면서 서태지가 진짜 천재라는 생각밖에 안든다... 선글라스랑 군밤모자로 신비주의가 극에 달했던 게 4집인데 그 때 진짜 무슨 힙합 전사같았음 근데 저렇게 안경쓰고 맨얼굴로 춤추고 라이브하니까 이게 새삼 시나위에서 락하던 서태지가 만든 노래 맞다는 게 실감이 나고 도대체 한 인간 안에 어떻게 저런 수많은 음악 스타일과 창조성이 녹아있는지 이해가 안될려고 함... 선글라스 끼고 부를 때는 뭔가 서태지란 이름만 가진 비밀의 남자가 부르는 것 같은 느낌이 있었는데 이거 보니까 더 충격이네 서태지 진짜 미쳤구나

Going over my comment, I believe I stated in the general sense of the 90s with Korean-Americans like Solid or late 90s like Drunken Tiger. I remember hearing, "I Want You" from DT, and I was like, didn't Camp Lo used that sample from Stylistics. Maybe, Seo Taiji got a hold of the Black Sunday and want to do his own "I Ain't Goin' Out like that"

I was there when It all started for Seo Teji and the other Hip Hop artist in the early 90s and true there were some Asian American artist like the trio group called "Solid" who came from the states, but they were mostly influenced by the U.S. soldiers who were stationed there and also from the Japanese who had embraced Hip Hop sooner than the Koreans. Google Japanese Hip Hop group called ZOO.

seotajii got weird when he went solo~never liked his high pitched tone, but he was the original korean hip hop artist soooo........ *.*

Clearly here, he is going for the B-Real's nasally sound that is a trademark of his, and even the beats on this was very West Coast/Cypress Hill. Many Korea-Americans in the 90s went back to Korea to become artists, hence bringing their influences with them. At that time, there's no KZfaq or such for the Koreans to view Hip Hop. That style of music was totally new to them, so, it was a little easier to bite.
