Gyeongbokgung (Korean: 경복궁; Hanja: 景福宮), also known as Gyeongbokgung Palace or Gyeongbok Palace, was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. Built in 1395, it is located in northern Seoul, South Korea. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty, Gyeongbokgung served as the home of Kings of the Joseon dynasty, the Kings' households, as well as the government of Joseon.
Gyeongbokgung continued to serve as the main palace of the Joseon dynasty until the premises were destroyed by fire during the Imjin War (1592-1598) and abandoned for two centuries. However, in the 19th century, all of the palace's 7,700 rooms were later restored under the leadership of Prince Regent Heungseon during the reign of King Gojong. Some 500 buildings were restored on a site of over 40 hectares.[1][2] The architectural principles of ancient Korea were incorporated into the tradition and appearance of the Joseon royal court.
In the early 20th century, much of the palace was systematically destroyed by Imperial Japan. Since the 1990s, the walled palace complex is gradually being restored to its original form. Today, the palace is arguably regarded as being the most beautiful and grandest of all five palaces. It also houses the National Palace Museum and the National Folk Museum within the premises of the complex.

In 1910, Japan colonized Korea, or Joseon, destroyed as many as 7,500 buildings and Gyeongbokgung Palace, deliberately undermining the value of Gyeongbokgung Palace and selling all the sites to individuals and using the Japanese charnel house. Currently, the Korean government started the restoration work in 1991 and is scheduled to be completed in 2048. All those expenses are currently covered by Korean taxes. This is the place where the queen of Joseon was brutally murdered by a Japanese samurai at Gyeongbokgung Palace. He killed the queen of Joseon and burned the body and threw it into the pond.

If you have a plan to travel to Korea, it's better to avoid summer. Summer is really hard and hot. The rest of the seasons are better than summer. Especially, Autumn is really beautiful in Korea.

You should avoid winter seasons like January too. It's about -10 C. Super cold in here.

I'm in love with Korea. At the moment i'm trying to learn Korean. It's a beautiful & sweet Language. There are definitely a few problems with reading this text. If I'm ever in Seoul, I probably won't even know where to go because everything really appeals to me. This country has a lot more to offer than my country (Germany). It is my dream to go there, but until then, I am enjoying your videos and at least I can take a little bit of Korea with me at home. So Nathan, keep doing your work. You're doing your job really well and I'm excited to see what more videos will come. 🥰🥰🥰

I'm also in love with Korea and I'm from Czech Republic, but come on Germany also has a lot to offer, I like the Rhine and Castles there. I take a bike, a few necessary things and go on train, get off and take a random journey ... Germany, Austria and Poland ❤ Korea is only more different, but our part of the world is also nice. Thx God for EU 💕
