Whether you're a parent with a starter set and a kid who insists on playing the Clones, leaving you with the Separatist chaff, or - like me - you've got a soft spot for the faceless cannon fodder in any wargame... you're going to end up painting a lot of Battle Droids. As luck would have it, they're some of the easiest things in the game to paint - hovering around 2-5 minutes for unmarked basic droids to around 8-10 minutes once you include Commander or OOM droid markings, it needn't take you long to have a great-looking army on the table.

Battle droids are the epitome of automaton cannon fodder. Sometimes playing guys who are “the worst” in a game can be fun as hell. I play a group of Traitor Guardsmen and Chaos Cultists in old Kill Team. Hit the max for the number of men you can field. They are “The Howling Maniacs” and are the worst. I use no tactics and just rush, shoot, and stab my way through the battlefield. Can’t recall ever winning a match with them, but I have a hell of a time playing them : D

Pratically they're SW's equivalent for skeletons, the paintjob is pratically the same, normally I give a black base, then white leaving a thin black line to give a better definition for markings, so the colour stick out better (old White Dwarf 's trick)

Vallejo reds are amusing. There's Red, Flat Red, and Dark Red (and that's just the three that I use most often). And of the three, I'd say Red is the darkest by half a hue (and Flat Red definitely the lightest). Also, thanks, because of you talking about "just Red", I realized that I had picked out the wrong red for my next step :D

They look great. I've been looking forward to this since you posted the sneak peaks on Twitter. Surprisingly easy how to get good definition. I wonder how these 3D prints stand up against the Star Wars Legion sculpts. (I haven't been too thrilled with the quality of some of the Star Wars Legion plastic.)
@SonicSledgehammerStudio
@SonicSledgehammerStudio Жыл бұрын
They're pretty good, comparatively. I don't see any major differences, except for the prints coming in with heads that're in one piece rather than two for the plastic kits! 🤪 Nuts to assembling an army out of those guys!
@MSnell
@MSnell Жыл бұрын
I personally find the sculpts he painted here for the B1s to look better than the official kits. As far as quality goes, the later releases are all hard plastic on sprues which are very nice, but the early releases (and unfortunately most of the Rebel and Imperial factions) are all softer plastic.

I printed some of them and due to the fact that I was trying to use up my resin (so there were only dregs in the tank) and my fep is also dying they didn't come out great. Also I tore out some limbs during support removal. But hey, I can chop them into pieces and put them on some bases! This is what I get trying to cheat my "I won't buy any Legion models before I paint a certain amount (as it's no longer a number, lol) of the things that I already have either bought or printed" rule, I guess. And I do want to get some Shadow Collective models. I hope that the next batch with new resin and new fep comes out better (still, I promised myself that I won't buy new resin until I the 3d printed stuff I already have is painted). Either way, this fast and easy method "made me" try to print these guys in he first place :D. It's nice to be able to see the effects and feel the accomplishment in just a few minutes :)

I would think doing battle damage on B1 battle droids is a bit unnecessary. If you damage a battle droid you have probably just destroyed it already.
@joesturn7740
@joesturn7740 Жыл бұрын
The other thing about battle droids with battle damage is that they are broken battle droids. B1s weren't known for their ability to take any kind of hit and keep fighting.
