Really cool to see Monkfish dominating so hard for the first 7 matches and the minibot being really disciplined just getting out of the way, and then for one moment at 13:34 in the finals Monkfish is super vulnerable to a big hit and Remora impedes synthesis for 4 seconds giving Monkfish just enough time to get out of the tight corner.

"I NEEDED THAT!" hilarious watching Monkfish and Wicked Wedge dance around for a while, I honestly wasn't expecting such a small bot with no real offensive weapon to last that long. As for Monkfish itself, it's nice to see a legged design turn up, especially since most of what I've seen of these bots have been wheeled designs. Almost reminds me of HUGE, but the wheels were replaced and the spinner was made horizontal on the underside.

Nice to see Monkfish and Knock-Off White keeping shufflers alive. Honestly, shuffling mechanisms seem like perfectly viable movement options, especially compared to other walking mechanisms.

I'm surprised they didn't call staying alive sooner but I'll give them credit for being more mobile than depth charge even after the wheels were gone. All your fights were amazing and the Discord was on fire as well as the chat. Cant wait to see monkfish at the finals

The Monkfish design is a good candidate to become a format for heavyweight competitions.

unfortunately, this type of mechanism doesn't count for a weight bonus in Battlebots. If we switched to wheels, the robot would be very similar to Hijinx.

It's a real shame, as that alternative design would make it more fragile and less efficient, but at the end of the day, Monkfish doesn't need to move up a class to prove that it has a formidable design.

The mass advantage for non-wheeled bots needs to be decreased but this drive mechanism is extremely impressive and I'm glad the mass advantage encouraged it's development.

Especially at Norwalk, the bonus weight for nontraditional motion is very high.

Maybe you should have 'blades' on top of the bar, so that when it is under your opponent, it might hit them upward and hit them on a more vulnerable spot.

Monkfish has quickly become one of my favorite robots, right up there with Droopy (I might have a type. lol). After the fight with Dutch Oven, I wonder if you could make a metal version named "Silverfish"?

Monkfish is like huge, but a stompbot with a horizontal spinner thats 5x as effective due to is low ground

Remora is a support robot. Mostly it is supposed to pin the opponent so Monkfish can spin up or self-right after a big hit.

You are correct on the material. For settings, we don't do too much special other than tuning retraction and extrusion multiplier. Use 15% gyroid infill and as many perimeters as you have weight for.

Why is monkfish not a full sized bot that's competing in battlebots? I know you have to have a budget for that level, but damn that bot could be a serious contender.

What were you pointing to in the final fight? Was a lipo out? Hard to tell.

Synthesis's power went out during the fight. Probably pointing to the weapon slowing down as a "look they're dead."

I was trying to point out that the weapon stopped spinning, so the bot might be dead. I pointed it out so Rachel knew she could pause for a second instead of continuing to attack.
