I was ecstatic that SEPTA got the Neo Artic. Had just discovered the AN460s of SamTrans around this time via the net.

Wow, the rear wheels on the Volvo’s turned unlike the Neos and Novas.

Yes, they did indeed.

Is SEPTA going to bring streetcars back to this route? The overhead wire is still intact but the tracks are paved over.
@trainman19714 жыл бұрын
Route 15? Westmoreland Loop is under reconstruction for that purpose as we speak, but the trolleys will be delayed until the I-95 construction in the vicinity of Richmond Street is completed and the street restored.

Loop is done. Tracks relaid. Now just waiting for 95 and the PCC rebuild to be done.

Only ride them once on the 48 and 60 each.

And one downtown for a few blocks on either the 33 or the 48 back in 2000 when the NEOPLANs were brand new.

Just realized that the Volvo's had rear steering
@trainman19712 жыл бұрын
Yep, the rear axles steered as well. I did not notice that myself until sometime in the 1990's!

Water main break? Also why were buses on the 15?
@Wingnutcaseman5 жыл бұрын
SEPTA discontinued 15, 23, and 56 in 1992 with no intention of ever restoring them. But the city exerted political pressure on them to reopen the 15 in the early 2000s with the PCC II’s. It was still bus operated when this was recorded.

Did volvo's ever run on the 6 & 65 ??
@trainman19714 жыл бұрын
No. They only ran on the 9, 27, and 48, for the most part, since there were only 50 of them. Also, they were all based at Allegheny depot. The 6 was out of Luzerne (since replaced by Midvale), and went to Allegheny after the Neoplan articulateds arrived. The 65 was split between Germantown and Callowhill at the time the Volvos arrived. When Germantown closed, Allegheny got that portion of the line. But artics still did not appear on 65 until the Neoplans arrived.

@@trainman1971 so when did Volvo become the 60 when the Neoplan Articulated buses came?? And tbh I think the Volvo was the worst buses that ever came out

@@franksanders9677 Oh shoot, I forgot they ran on the 60 too from the beginning.

@@trainman1971 lol unfortunately I never had the chance to ride on the Volvo. I remember my first time seeing the Neoplan Articulated as a test bus and my first one I got to ride was the 6 year of 1999
@videonut19884 жыл бұрын
trainman1971, when the Volvo’s arrived in ‘84, the 65 was the E back then.
