September 1, 1939, is written in the context of world war 2 by the British-American poet Wystan Hugh Auden. W.H. Auden has tried to debunk the lies of the world leaders and politicians. He has shown how these leaders attract the audience and keep them in a euphoric dream. He also argues that the administrators are playing into the hands of some people. He claims that the people are now surrounded by darkness and someone needs to guide them toward the truth.

Why not give the importance of the theme, or central idea of the poem.

Good question, you can easily get the central idea when you understand the poem, so that's why i didn't talk about it separately, because then video becomes too lengthy. The central idea of this poem is the establishment of honesty, peace and justice in society. It explores that how leaders manipulate their people and achieve their aim. The dishonest leaders compel people to fight wars, like Hitler did. It was written in the context WW2, so it's exposing the dishonesty of people / politicians.
