Here's a guy who worked his butt off all his life, married his childhood sweetheart and LOVED her, loved his child and just wanted to do his best for them. I wish he could have stayed with them to see all of his hard work pay off.

If anyone DESERVED to live out his life, it was Sergei Grinkov! He was such a gift - not only to his family and friends, but to ALL of us!!! He was a shining example of the kind of person we all should be - and as Katia described him in her book, he was good to everyone and “had no meanness in him!” Losing a husband like him would be as painful as it gets! God bless Katia and Daria!

I recently discovered Sergei and Katia and can't watch those videos without choking on my tears... What they created together, was out of this world. Seeing their love so pure and gentle, it's almost hard to believe such love existed between two people, especially when you live in the modern-day dating world...

They were my favorite ice skating couple. I was 17 in HS. Time flies so fast...i don't know how she moved on after this. He was her soul mate.

Then Ekaterina lost her father in the same manner that she lost Sergei in 2008. She's had her fare share of tragedy and loss.

And what about Sergei’s mother who lost her husband and then 5 years later lost her son. God forbid a mother loses her child let alone her youngest child. She couldn’t handle the grief and fell terribly I’ll then died in 2000 And Sergei’s sister who he loved so much, SHE has been through an immense amount of grief. Went through a divorce, then lost her father, then 3 or 4 years after that her boyfriend who she had been with for 2 years died, then her brother in 95 then her mother in 2000. She just like Katia left to raise a daughter on her own except she had no one else around her. No mother or father or husband or boyfriend or brother. Katia at least had her parents who helped her through her grief

Да, согласен, была статья, где интервьюер встречался с парой на катке, но катя не каталась, потому что у нее болело колено и она брала недельный отпуск, однако, когда у Сергея начались дикие боли в спине, катя не дала ему отдохнуть . Она даже заставила его выйти на лед и снять специальный диснеевский фильм в 1995 году (Покахонтас), когда у него была нервная боль в ноге. Катя описывает, как он не мог бегать или стоять на цыпочках, но она все равно заставила его кататься на коньках. Катя не заслужила Сергея. Мне очень жаль его и его мать, которая умерла в 2000 году после тяжелой болезни. Не удалось справиться с гри. Катя жила и дважды выходила замуж, с ней все в порядке

That was my first feeling; but in a way it another I think that both are responsible… I believe that God loved Sergei for more reasons and He had a precious compensation for Sergei’s spiritual Growth on the path of perfection. He didn’t need more emotional and physical trials . He has more missions behind the veil; and Katya, this side of the veil. God bless both. 🙏♥️🙏

I find it so sad that in all of their different skating competitions he never had a physical checkup that showed high blood pressure or any other signs. Even a backache in the upper back is a sign. Since his father died suddenly of heart disease they should've been more cautious and run a full cardiac test on him every year or 2 - that's the norm for people with heart disease in their immediate family.

I'm sorry this happened to grinkov, but I don't think it can simply be reduced to "should have been more careful". It's been almost three decades, medicine has evolved, technology has evolved, and we know exactly what genes were responsible for grinkov's early death. But that wasn't the case thirty years ago, when no one saw back pain as a sign of heart disease, and when one's father died of a heart attack at the age of 50 or so, no one saw it as a cause for alarm. It's no one's fault, it's just that medicine and technology haven't developed that far yet.

En las competiciones ambos eran monitoreados constantemente por los doctores incluso después de cada programa pero la condición de Sergei era congénita y desconocida, tanto que ahora lleva su nombre. Lamentablemente en USA no se cuidaban tanto, Sergei estaba lejos de su familia y Katia vivía obsesionada con patinar y hacerlo todo con su esposo. Ella nunca pensó que lo perdería y nadie hizo caso a las señales. Sin los avances médicos de hoy día, Sergei estaba condenado lamentablemente.
