Loved the idea of doing back and front togther, but would have preferred the fabric arranging to be done on the big empty table behind, as it was very confusing to work out how the pieces all went together, as I couldn't see properly behind the serger?

For those who are confused, the order of the layers of fabric are as follows: 1.) batting strip 2.) backing strip, right side facing UP 3.) previous serged quilt sandwich, backing side facing DOWN 4.) front strip, right side facing DOWN

I would love to see you put the first sandwich up where I could see it. I can't get the first one correct. I understand the the rest and it has been 2 or 3 years since I made this quilt. Thank you.

Isn't this like the " Kaye Woods" 6 hour Serger quilt? She has a booklet explaining this method. It has variations, material calculations, and different sizes. I think it came out in the 80's

I am 18 months late from when this video was made but I want to do this. I have no idea how to begin this project. I have watched the video 4 times and still I don't understand how she started the project. There are quite a few comments here but no answer to this question. Any one know how to begin the project? Or know of another video showing how? I'm a pretty new quilter but I love this idea. Thank you.

On your machine, use 4 threads or for a 3-thread just use the left needle, set the width to "M" and skim off just barely a hair of fabric. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y6ybqa5yua2RZJ8.html

Hi Sara! Have had a serger for years, and never use it. Now you have inspired me to do so. I understand how you get a 1/4” seam on a serger, but how do you control how much fabric is actually cut off? From what you are saying, moving the blade back and forth controls only the size of the seam (or overlock stitch). What controls the amount being cut off with the blade?
@schisandra
@schisandra 4 жыл бұрын
Patricia Milovina ... By how you position the fabric as it feeds towards the blade/needle. You could try lowering the knife (not using it), if you want to avoid the “how much to cut off?” question altogether. Don’t know if all sergers have that option but mine (not a high-end model!) does.
@patriciamilovina9178
@patriciamilovina9178 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your input! My blade does lower. I just thought there was some mechanism that controlled the amount being cut off.

@@schisandra as in “So what.” If you want to see KZfaq channels that have the correct camera angles then I highly recommend The Crafty Gemini (especially her Wednesday work in progress videos), Sew Yeah Quilting and Jordon Fabrics and Shabby Fabrics. The only reason I came back to this video was that I was notified that someone liked my comment and I couldn’t really remember the video and then I just decided to read more comments and realized that so many other people were not impressed. It doesn’t matter, this lady never reads the comments and is not interested in improving her Channel.
