Nicol and Leboeuf get into a heated argument about Ramos' status as a so-called "great defender." Leboeuf says he'd like to have played with Ramos, but Nicol says Ramos cannot be considered great because "he is a dirty defender who gets too many yellow and red cards."

Really , he is one of the worlds best defender. He is a dirty player too. He is a bit careless in less important games. But when the big game arrives, he shows how good he is with his defending ,passes,and goals .

vikram mathews tbh I agree with both of them, Ramos is a legend but I never see him as a ”world class defender” Ramos and also Pique are in teams that dominate the ball in 80/90% of the games they play in the season and win alot cause they have world class attacking players. They are great defenders but world class I would not put Ramos or Pique

He didn't win the trophies, the teams did, usually in spite of his lack of actual talent, skill, ability, and self-discipline. If he was any good, he wouldn't have to cheat. Fucker should have been banned from the game for life for what he did to Salah, and I'm no Liverpool fan.

Ramos is the Spanish Roy Keane. The guy is World class, wins hella trophies, and is willing the fight and die for the badge. If he plays for your team he’s a Patron Saint, if he’s plays for your rivals then you can’t stand the sight of him. I personally love the guy. He’s a captain’s captain.

Okay, but consider this. Ramos has the world record for most red cards in professional football. By quite a long way. Red cards are given to players when they cannot/will not conform to the rules. Ramos has a bad attitude problem and he’s been a cheater from day one.

@@4231jerome being a cheater doesn't mean he can't defend. It's not pretty, it's wrong and sends a bad message to the kids, but grown ups will understand. There might be players that can tackle better, players that are stronger, players that are faster and players that are better in the air but for the past decade, overall, there hasn't been a better and more consistent defender in world football (antics taken into consideration) you don't just captain and start for real madrid and Spain(most capped player btw) unless you're a world class defender, especially when you're 30+.

Sergio is so dynamic . Yeah he does commit stupid tackles but when he’s playing very well your team is winning . And for Steve to say he isn’t a great defender is foolish you watch the games week in and week out you see his gifted ability to read the game and read an attacker you’re blown away. He’s arguably the best defender of all time. I refuse to believe that his challenge on Salah was intentional, it was rough but you’re playing football at the highest levels it comes with the game . You can also add the Ramos is targeted by refs when he commits a late challenge he’s easily carded a lot of the times because they see Ramos

Thatguy A world class defender doesn’t have to resort to dirty play when he comes across good players. Ramos still gets turned inside out tons of times (this season, last season and almost every el Classico). Ronaldo’s goalscoring record took focus away from Ramos’s mistakes. World class defenders are people like van dijk, chiellini, bonucci and Hummels (in his prime).

I could easily mention many world class defenders or players over the last few years that were similarly dirty players. Ramos is quite easily one of the best defenders of his generation regardless (the 3rd best from Spain in the modern era, behind Hierro and Puyol)
