We've been looking forward to drive and feature a modern Audi on TestDrive forever now. This is a 2018 Audi Q5 Tech Prestige, or the Technik trim sold here in Canada. This compact luxury crossover comes very well equipped for the price and year and we go over everything about this vehicle if you're in the market to buy one. Exterior styling is very conservative to what Audi has been doing, as this second generation was new, and has since been updated for the 2021 model year. This Q5 Tech Prestige features a 360º camera system, front and rear parking sensors, a power rear liftgate, LED headlights, and keyless entry. We discuss the engine and performance numbers for this crossover, including how the Quattro with Ultra Technology works, along with the 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
We go over the interior of the 2018 Audi Q5 with features like the front and rear heated seats, heated steering wheel, 12.3" Digital Cockpit, 8.3" infotainment screen, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufson surround sound audio system. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a push button start. We talk about how the interior on this Audi compares to other luxury crossovers, specifically the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
We then take the 2018 Audi Q5 TFSI on a real-world road test to talk about how the fuel efficiency was, how the vehicle performs on the road, and some of the reasons why you'd want to consider this Audi in the used market. We discuss our overall impression about it after spending a week with it, and why we think this vehicle and the brand in general has been so popular here in Canada.

There is another option package I would have definitely chosen (we have it on our A4): the Sport Seats one. They have much better bolstering and come with the cooling feature. Great review. The last generation of A4/A5/Q5 are fantastic vehicles.

Ventilated seats would have been pretty nice for this one, no doubt. Typically the press cars we feature end up with all, or most of the tech available, whereas the cars real people end up buying aren't usually as well equipped. This one seemed to be the best optioned that we could get our hands on.

Hi thanks for featuring the Audi 2018 Q5 Specifically 🤗. I would like to know if this is a Reliable Car, w/o the high costly repairs ? And how many miles can I expect to get long term with this car. Thank You 😊

Any luxury vehicle will have higher repair costs versus a mainstream vehicle. These should last 150k kms without any significant issues, but it really depends on the maintenance history of the specific car you're looking at.

Depends on what you want out of a vehicle. The Tucson at least will have a full warranty.

Drives me crazy, no one does the shift pattern on the shifter correctly. Mazda is the only "normal" car that is push up to downshift and pull down to upshift. You want to shift in the direction of your body's momentum in relation to the car seat you are in

I do wish there was some consistency with the shifters, half do it this way, half go the other way.

I would stay away from a high mileage VW dual clutch

The early DCTs from VW definitely had issues, that's something I've read quite a bit about. This generation transmission seems to be more reliable, but maintenance will be higher. I think that's one of the reasons why a lot of buyers I've spoken with are looking at the SQ5 over this, just to avoid the transmission.
