Just turn off the interior lights switch not to drain the battery when rear hatch is open for extended periods of time. If the switch doesn't work or some such ... the carabiner is a fantastic idea.

I love your minimalist setups even though I am not a glamper or into decorating. Your ideas are the simple solutions I need for fast and efficient, even a comfortable camping experience. I also have never eaten Korean food and love seeing how you prepare your delicious looking meals. Gotta try that!! I will be 75 this year and just bought a Suburu Outback. Looking forward to some low key, little work car camping! Just goes to show - you youngsters can teach old dogs new tricks. ❤

Fantastic tips thank you, i have been looking at a way round my interior lights staying on, I can turn off all except the safety door lights on the 2 front doors, so I will most definitely be trying the carabiner in the boot latch :)

Some great tips, but I am Somewhat confused about the trunk comment. If you turn off the car, that should be enough in regards to not draining the battery. Unless you need the lights of the car. Am I missing something here? Handy tip though, will do this hack.

A vehicle's battery does drain down if the key is off or out & the rear door or even the window is up in the back. I fool mine with a small carabiner in the latch. ***Also, for anyone living in a vehicle or doing a lot of car camping, I'd highly suggest investing in a deep cycle battery for your rig; not just a standard starting battery.
