Senator Nomination
Congressional Nomination
Vice Presidential Nomination
Superintendent Nomination
AFROTC Nomination

I’ve been super confused about the timeline for applying Noms, I’m a current junior in California, do I apply spring of my junior year? Or senior year do I apply for congressional nominations?

Senior year, you will be applying for nominations. These will typically take place during the fall, and all noms will be in by January.

When you can actually apply. Just focus on school for now, that’ll help later.

The best time to truly begin the application process is towards second semester of your junior year though you really should keep up to date on all of the application requirements such as filling out the character and academic requirements as well as focusing on the physical aspects. You're also going to want to start pushing towards your nominations and teacher recomendations.

Hey Jacques, I have a question. Does EVERY congressman HAVE to have an interview. The reason I ask this is because I am seeking a nomination from my district. All I see on his website is a simple application you have to fill out. My district is pretty "small town," so do you think my congressman doesn't even want interviews, or am I just missing something on his website?

It's not a requirement. Some congress people won't have interviews if they expect very little candidates each year. If in doubt, just email/call their office.

How would I go about the vice-president nomination process?

So I just filled out the PCQ, and am currently a senior in high school. My plan is to go to community college for one year and graduate in 2022. Since I filled out the PCQ now, I assume I'm now on track to apply for the USAFA class of 2026? Regarding the nominations, do I wait until I am a candidate to apply for nominations from my congress representative and governors?

One is not typically dependent on the other. When you check your rep and governor websites, it usually has an initial/final date for the nomination submissions, and it lines up with when you would naturally be a candidate. You should not have filled out the questionnaire yet. That would be done next year in your case.

Yes! You never know. I would like to think that “the answer is always going to be no if you don’t try.” People get waivers all the time if they are deemed competitive enough. Your vision just has to be correctable to 20/20, it doesn’t have to be your natural eye sight. Hope this helps!

Don’t wait till the end of your senior year for anything, start of senior year you should be close to finishing the process.

If you get nominated but interviewed too late you might not get the letter until too late.

For the congressional one does an even number of candidates based on gender get a spot for the same academy basically like if one female and one male wanted to got to west point ?

Sorry for the late response! It varies district to district. But there is typically some behind the scenes as are as meeting the needs of the government quotas.

I heard the rotc nomination is just additional and you still have to get the nomination from one of the representatives/congressman. Is that true?

Nah man, I’m applying to the academies this year, and I received 6 noms, one to everyone with double for Air Force and Navy. I’m also in AFJROTC, if you get a rotc nom it counts. But best to aim to get all if possible.

@@electrowolf6260 Thanks man! I’m not sure about if you are moving. I think most every Senators office is not accepting nomination applications anymore but congressmen might. Good luck to wherever you are applying

I don’t think so; I was just given 2 nominations to the USNA (one from my MOC and one from a Senator), and I also got a nomination to USAFA from the other Senator. I know people who have got multiple nominations to different service academies too.

Yeah it’s not rare. For me my congressman asked if there were any other schools I told them I was interested in (I originally applied for USAFA) and they gave another for the USNA

@@jacquescoury2979 wait? U didn’t get in? Oh well when did u receive ur uniforms and did u get ur military id as soon as u were qualified for rotc

@@jacquescoury2979 wait so rotc cadets don’t receive a military id nor uniforms the first day at least ? So then it’s more of a school program (band,drama etc) than a real thing?

@@sahajkohli4305 yeah it is a real thing. It was also weird this year because of covid, but I got my uniform within like the first week. We had to make appointments to go get them because of covid. So it’s all different and
