This brilliant pianist made this episode so memorable. I miss the old Sesame Street of my childhood. And yep. I love the number four, the number six, the number 8 and the number nine. And I love how goofy Stockard Channing was when her 4 melted with the water coming down directly on her from the window cleaners?

Benedict was a Genius. The Mad Painter was, still is my favorite Sesame Street Character.

I can't believe those 2 would be famous one day. I was just a kid when I saw those.

This made an impression on me as a little kid. I loved his reassuring voice and the fact that all he cared about was painting numbers in odd places. Quality. Love Stockard Channing too, good mix of strang/cute looking.

Stockard has appeared in many of the classic sesame street clips with that mad painter.

The piano music has a recurring theme, sounds like "I Think I'm Going Out of My Head" from the 60s

How cute is Stockard Channing in the rain jacket and hat? I love her!! She was so young in these sketches.
His eyes used to scare the crap out of me when I was a little kid but they're very funny sketches the Number 8 was my favourite sketch painting a bald man's head!!

That is her, can't you recognize her? As for the water, it hits her when the umbrella isn't up, which is the joke.

This is the first ever Mad Painter I've seen. 0:29-0:32, when it was seen on the Elmo's World: Sesame Street, the montage at the beginning. Then I saw the full thing on "Sesame Street: Unpaved", 0:07-0:24 was cut.

There was a headline in mad painter #8 that said "Painter Strikes Again". It does make the sequence strange as AFAIK it is the only one that goes past 10 but never makes it to 12 (Sesame Street went to 10, 12 or 20 with it numbers)
@Maximara14 жыл бұрын
That is a rare one as generally Sesame Street didn't go over 20 (it was rare even when I was growing up for them to go over 12.)

That was a young Stockard Channing and a Young Mr. Bently from the Jeffersons.

I had just read somewhere Stockard Channing did some stuff on S.S. so I got curious. Yep, that's her. I'm old enough to remember the mad painter but I didn't really know who she was back then but I do remember her in The Fortune 1975, I'm guessing this is before that, 72 maybe?

In the beginning of this skit, why were those school kids laughing and/or looking at the painter like he was crazy? (Of course, those school kids don't know but, he is crazy for painting numbers on people and things he's not supposed too). Did they think it looked funny how he was holding his paint brush in his mouth? If not, couldn't they have thought he was a person working for a painting company being hired to paint number 4 parking spaces in a parking lot or something?

Yes I noticed that too. At 0:28 it looks like it's not fully painted and at 0:29 it's fully painted.

Possibly, wouldn't surprise me. The kind of voice suits him, even he has his lips sealed, in all his scenes. I love the expression on Stockards face, when the water falls on her and when she looks up after rather priceless but she looks kinda cute.
@AllRequired15 жыл бұрын
Not even a '12'?
@afriendofbean3 жыл бұрын
@AllRequired I think the reason there is no Mad Painter #12 skit is because, the #11 skit took place in a doctor's office and in that skit the nurse pulled the painter into the office which kind of shows that the painter was caught where the doctor probably did a full body checkup on him seeing that there was something wrong with him in the head for painting numbers on things he's not supposed too where the doctor probably took away his paint can and paint brush and put him away in a hospital for crazy people which is why he was not seen again after the #11 painter skit.
