Thanks for this series, I'll be watching it all soon. I'm just installing my Quantum heaters at the minute (QM125RF). The heaters look great but the manual is painfully badly written in places. I'm also surprised at the number of large screws (6 of them) supplied to screw the unit to the wall when 99% of the weight is pushing DOWN on the feet of the unit. I guess Dimplex are covering their backs and then some, but with these 6 large screws I could screw it to the ceiling with 100Kg of heat bricks installed and it wouldn't drop on my head! :) I'm just surprised because I've watched videos of older Dimplex storage heaters and there were only 2 screws used to secure the heater to the wall. Anyway, I'm looking forward to switching my Quantums on and following your series.

Just moved in to a place with 3 big ones with the double switches at the main and two wee ones in the bedrooms with just one main switch…there a new model like just got a touch screen, I’m stumped been here say 4 days and iv gone though £60… iv generally not even had more than two on at a time either iv watched/read too much n don’t know how to proceed.. iv set all the modes and that but can’t seem to get the hang of the off peak on peak switch, I put them both on at the wall n it’s on fine I press advance to get heat and so it goes but burns so much.. not been leaving emm on is that why im not letting it charge up.. idk it used 23 quid in less than 12 hours the first night surly that can’t be the rate for them it’s a council property too and im in Scotland lol I need some heat

This is very helpful, my property is let out and so I want a simple programming solution for current & future tenants. This tutorial seems to suggest that the "manual" programming is pretty much identical between WIFI and non-WIFI models, is that correct? If I order a non WIFI model but NOT the WiFi hub can it then be operated exactly like the non-WIFI model? Or would "manual" functionality be different (to standard model)? And if I also get the hub (and tenant then gets the app) could the extra functionality provided by the app cause any future issues to the heater? Or (e.g.) do you simply unplug at the mains, and it all resets etc? What I mean is that I dont want any new tenant to be unable to work the system due to previous app settings, or network problems causing heater to stop working.
@DeathLazerBoy
@DeathLazerBoy Жыл бұрын
I have never come across the hub and never used one I have heard about them but wouldnt like to recommend them as I have no experience of them. I leave the link to my playlist in empty Homes so that the new tenants can watch the video to learn how to use them kzfaq.info/sun/PLEEO5iVErdPmREiTHEEh7rddewYtuaXSq

Hi, My parents (pensioners) have very old storage heaters (Heatstore). At least 20 years old with simple input and output dials. We are looking at installing Quantum's to hopefully make the heaters easier to use and reduce running costs. Can I ask you a couple of questions please: 1. Do they only heat up using Economy 7 / Off Peak, ie they cannot charge of the regular daytime tariff by accident. 2. I assume the fan and user controls are driven by the normal mains socket. 3. From what I can see they are going to have greater control over when heat is released and by how much. At present it sits at the same level all day. I assume that if I set the radiator to run cooler over night, it will still store enough to meet demand throughout the rest of the day. thank you for the videos

Thanks for the support please consider subscribing to help me grow the channel 1 there is an auto boast function which uses pk rate electric once the stored heat is depleted but this of off by default and is hard to turn on 2 see my planning a NSH upgrade video all Quantum need a peak and off peak supply kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibaGo5eUvNexhGw.html 3 they are Thermostatically controlled so it's best to turn them all on lounge 21 degrees and bedrooms 18 degrees (gov recommended temp) or a bit lower if comfortable. Then the heater will click I. And out maintaining that temp throughout the day and only charge back up at night using the off peak supply to replace the heat let out in the day. So No need to turn them off in the summer as they won't emitt any heat as its already warm.

To set the days the same way for each day quickest way is to set first day the way you want, advance to next day then back to the previous day and press Advanced until the heaters beeps then advance to next day and press dial until beeps then do the same for each day

Hi, on the advanced settings you can force the heater to charge upto the 7 hours (or for as long as off peak teleswitch Is activated), it's currently set to 0 hours, I take it 0 hours means the heater is deciding how much heat to store depending on temperature and how much heat has been drawn out during the day? Thanks

You can't set charge times just release times the heater will take as much charge as it needs to maintain it target temperature during the off peak time only. Advance setting just does the opiste. How hot should the outside of these storage heaters get? Mine get pretty warm in the morning after a full charge (core temp 110), you can put your hand on it, but still warm. Is that normal? I read about how good they are supposed to be at conserving heat and I'm wondering if mine were not installed properly. Thanks!
@DeathLazerBoy
@DeathLazerBoy 6 ай бұрын
The outside should only be warm if the storage heater has recently released heat if it hasn't it should be cool to touch like a thermos flask holding the heat in. The insulation should be held on with many screws but often during a poor installation some screws are missed causing heat to leak out and make the case warm. I have 3 big quantum dimplex heaters rd series. I tried ringing dimplex and never had so much trouble to speak to someone. Mine don't keep the heat by the time I come home about 5pm, if there is a bit of heat and it turns on its cold within 30 minutes, I turn the heating on to heat up the heaters in the night which I don't think is right. How do you actually make them charge up in the night?

The charge themselves from the off peak supply to replace the heat lost previously much like an Immersion tank The meter should be economy 7 The times on the setting are release times not charge times If it cold after being out all day set the programmer to out all day that way no heat will be released while Out so there should be plenty left in the evening Make sure the date and time. Hi! My quantum qm070 only seems to heat up when the boost setting is enabled, other than that there is a fan noise but no heat being generated? I stumbled upon the charge times and it was set to 00:00 - 00:00 which is apparently what the duel power supply models should be set to but surely that means its not charging and that's why I'm getting no heat?

You can't set charge times on a quantum only release times if it not charging check the switch then the distribution board And then the meter. If it is only working on boost then it's only use peak rate electricity which will cost loads

I'll give them a watch thank you!! You can set charge times on this one, I found the menu by accident! If you go into advanced settings and then go to the extra charge section and press nothing, wait about 10/15 seconds and it opens up another page with options to change the max and min temp, charge times and a couple other things. I found it by accident when I gave up and just stared into the screen for a while 😂 it's not the RF version I believe it's the version that was discontinued December last year, G series I think (off the top of my head)

@@DeathLazerBoy , the display only comes on when the off peak comes on , then when the off peak switches off the display switches off and there is no power , no fan , nothing. I have both switches on, so it’s not that. I’ve just had them put in 2 days ago and he’s just used the same cables which were already coming from the wall sockets and were wired up fine. Do you think he’s maybe got the off peak and 24 hour cables mixed up. It’s a brand new heater so I doubt it’s a fault in the unit.
@DeathLazerBoy
@DeathLazerBoy 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like both the QM150rf power supplies are transposed. In other words the house pk rate is going to the Qm150rf off peak and the house offpk is going tonthe QMs pk supply. The general rule is if it turns on in the day its peak and if it only turns on at night its off peak. From what you said just swap both supplies round. Legal bit (In a safe and compilant manner to be done by a compitant person)
@DeathLazerBoy
@DeathLazerBoy 2 жыл бұрын
Oh just a thought if you only have one QM it may try and heat the whole house and use allot of off pk as it is thermostatically controlled. If you have other old NSH don't forgot to put them on to to spreadn the work load between each of the heaters .

@@DeathLazerBoy yeah I still have an older XL in my hallway which I always keep my living room/hall door open so the heat circulates the whole house. When I am able to use the display I switch on open window as mines sits under my window which I prefer to have open slightly. So hopefully this won’t cause the thermostat to cost me a fortune to run it when it’s fixed. It was the local council who installed it and I already called them back which was useless as they only said it may be a faulty heater, which I doubt because it works fine when the off peak comes on. I’m gonna call them back out and ask him to swap the cables over and I’ll let you know if that’s what the problem is. Thanks for taking the time to help, much appreciated 👍

Does it just heat the bricks up to their full potential automatically. The older model had the input dial where you controlled how hot you wanted the bricks. I’ve just swapped over but I’m having trouble with the 24hour supply and I’m wondering if I’ve made a blunder as there is always someone up in my house 24hours a day. And the last model was great at just staying hot constantly 24hours without costing much as long as you didn’t mess around with the controls. ( just open a door or window if it got too hot )
