Dawkins seems like such a nice, humble guy. It's a shame Christians portray him as arrogant.

Oddly enough, Santa Clause is how I realized that the bible was just another fantasy. At 13 after I told my dad I was an atheist he asked me to read the bible. When I was done he asked me if I was ready to accept Jesus. I told him it's an interesting story, but it's fiction just like Santa Clause.

Dawkins is such a great example to us all, both in his intellectuality and honesty, as well as his bravery - his willingness to put himself out in the public representing a fairly unpopular, though hopefully growing, position. I love the guy. He would be a great one with whom to sit down to a dinner conversation. I hope he fully recovers from his recent stroke.

It's always been strange to me that Dawkins is pitched as a mean person out to insult and berate people. The man is as gentle as they come. He's as biting and vitriolic as a jar of mayonnaise. But when you dismantles another's worldview, no matter how gently and politely, a narrative is invented about you to convince others that staying away from you is prudent. "Dawkins is mean-hearted and wretched" is a great excuse to not listen to the man. So sad.

Humbling how smart some of these people are.

Richard seems like such a cool guy

The last part almost made me cry. I was already an atheist but I used to feel so alone, until Richard Dawkins arrived, and then I felt so empowered and I no longer felt fear of hell. Richard Dawkins changed the life of this tormented mexican.

Dawkins rules!

I just noticed that the cover art for 'The Selfish Gene" was painted by Desmond Morris, the author of "The Naked Ape" (1967) that described humans as fitting the spectrum of evolution with our similarities to existing apes! Desmond Morris worked for Nobel Prize winner Niko Tinbergen, Dawkins' mentor at Balliol College, Oxford. Morris & Dawkins are both PhD Zoologist/Ethologists ; ) My brother, who was studying in his under-graduate biology courses in '67, gave me a copy of the 'Naked Ape', and had already done a fine job of teaching me about evolution. That book really opened my eyes to the amazing elegance of genetics, and to it's expression in the startling similarities we share with our furry cousins. The first time I learned about evolution, it seemed perfectly plausible to me because I didn't have the yoke of supernatural belief blocking my mind; I'd already been an Atheist (skeptic) for a decade. It made perfect sense. For 50 years now, I've been fascinated with life sciences, and worked in that field along with biomedical sciences, though mostly as a mechanical engineer. I only became aware of Richard Dawkins about 7 years ago, but have been an admirer ever since! I really enjoyed the interview!

I kind of hate the fact that this interview at: 5/19/2015 only has 48,414 views, while videos with eye-catching titles have hundred of thousands to the millions of views. This NEEDS attention TBH. People love arguments and violence rather than calm, peaceful, and collected interviews/discussions. It's a bit weird, but as observable through human history, I guess it's an evolutionary thing to lean towards the violence. Survival Instinct IMO. I mean look at fights: people swarm over the fighters and try to see the action. An argument in the room, people look and crowd those involved.

The end made me cry. Richard Dawkins is so sweet there when you thank him for his part in your deconversion. ;)

Probably one of the few times he's been interviewed by a sane person. :P A huge "fangirl" moment for me, and this is at least as interesting to me as the Four Horsemen discussion. The two people I would want to meet most in the world, are Richard and Seth. // 'nuff ass kissing.

3:00 I went to a religious funeral recently for a relative and it was downright disappointing. Her name was mentioned once, copy+pasted into the most generic sermon I had ever listened to (and being religious for 18 years I had heard quite a few). It wasn't an event about her at all. I finally had to excuse myself and hold my own "memorial" of reflecting over her life alone. It just didn't feel right otherwise.

That was a brilliant interview with Richard Dawkins, what a charming man he truly is. I could listen to him talking forever. Every word he speaks makes total sense to me, he makes me feel more in tune with the reality of our world and universe. I hope his Theist adversaries see this, and get off their high horses about him. Thank you Seth. :-)

That was a pro interview Seth! Theistic detractors will accuse atheists of being cloying over yourself and Dawkins, but it was nice being able to see him relax a little into a safe and intelligent environment. As you have done for so many of us, I think you provided him a little oasis of rationality and understanding which he is not often afforded in the media. Love ya work!

It's great to hear/watch someone interview a person they respect as greatly as Seth respects Richard Dawkins. This was fabulous. I usually have to roll away (I'm in a wheelchair lol) from long videos and come back basically breaking them down into smaller "chunks." I have sat here for the entire 62 minutes without rolling away one time.

When I was a kid I learned a lot about the greek myths, they are very useful as a general education because they are referenced everywhere in ways I can't begin to list. More importantly though, learning about these gods who were clearly believed in by an entire civilization before the supposed birth of christ made it much easier to discount christianity when I was eventually faced with it. I was thankfully not raised religious at all, if you have kids and aren't a believer please consider teaching or telling your kids myths, it might help them understand religions more easily.

Richard Dawkins is a delight to listen to. He is so erudite and refined. He also speaks so well and with gentle tones.

One of the best interviews of Richard I have seen yet. And to this very day, I still feel that the Selfish Gene and the Extended Phenotype were the two most influential books I have ever read. They gave me a depth of thinking about biology and ethology that is unparallelled in value. Sagan gave me deep reverence but Dawkins gave me depth of thought. Thank you Richard.

I've studied Dawkins' books & papers since the mid'70's As a young biologist I was fascinated by his Selfish Gene. Since then, I've been sometimes irked, sometimes in awe, sometimes amazed that "I" didn't see the "obviousness" of what he discusses. My one serious disappointment was I couldn't attend dinner in the L.A. area with him. This man along with Asimov & Sagan has taught me more hard science than any class I've ever taken. He's a genius at taking complex & making it simple. Thanks Seth

Mr. Dawkins is like a role model to me i wish i could be like him, but with the area i live in and my close families lifestyle i cant really do much. He has inspired me to have a dream of becoming a science teacher to make young people in a very small community like the one i live in aware of science
