She was only 19 years old back then and despite that so professional and sweet! Really nice!

Gotta love the Yugoslav jury: 12 points to Cyprus?! You REALLY gotta love 'em! That was the point when I was close to losing my patience with the haphazardness of this voting, and with Italy being shunned for 7 juries straight!. Fortunately from Austria onwards, they got their surge.

The Eurovision had its range of fans even then so surely it wasn't all invitation. You could hear very enthusiastic supporters for Spain, Denmark, Ireland and Sweden, to name just a few, after each performance. You can hear the Danish, Irish and Swedish supporters cheer when they get high points, but not the Spanish. Maybe it is, as you say, the small venue and the closeness of the voting.

1998 was the first year that 'tickets' were open to the general public, before that people arranged attendance through their national TV channels - and were usually connected to the countries performer. Audiences were made up almost entirely of local people until well into the 80s. I know from people here that tickets were very difficult to get for the 3 in a row in Ireland.

It was all by invitation then, save for a few individual supporters of the singers. It would be a lot later before audience attendance became open to the general public.

I know, it is strange. They gave each entry a good applause, but when the voting began it's as if nobody cared anymore; maybe it was the competition aspect of it. I really don't know. Rest assured the 1985 and 1983 crowds were way better responders.

I guess it was the same with the individual selections, as when my dad entered a song 1994 it was a jury who voted, and invites mainly. With an age limit of 12 years, and I was 6. My brother was twelve however, I was SO jealous of him.

Really? That's very interesting. Still, though the red tape reads like that, I like to think the contest still had its fans, who did their best to get tickets - especially from the early 90s onwards.

Really? Even with loud supporters for countries evident in years before, and after? I think it just depends on the years. In 1991 definitely, most of them were individual supporters, so either invitations were far-spread, or fans really did their homework.
