In 1996, voter turn around was extremely low. In other words, estabilishment had successfully coveyed that PPP would not be able to form a Govt. even if they win the elections. So, majority did not vote. Whenever there was high voter turn arount, PML-N lost.

The other answer to last question is that in 2018 judiciary was against nawaz sharif but today judiciary is with Imran khan. Today judiciary has emerged as more powerful than establishment. From now onward judiciary shall be the kings making party in pakistan. This is again bad luck for us. God help us and protect us. Now we are at the mercy of judges.

Sethi Saib speaks with such reverence concerning Nawaz Sharief. No mention of his platelets. I remember what he said about journalists who were forced to leave the country. So sad. He was making light of people who were arrested. Mr Sethi is the most charismatic and knowledgeable journalist. Sadly biased. Still compelling.
