On this episode of Sets, Streets & Eats I visit the filming locations of the 1978 classic comedy, National Lampoons Presents Animal House. Directed by John Landis and written by Harold Ramis, Doug Kinney, Chris Miller and produced by Ivan Reitman himself. This was Kevin Bacons 1st film role and made household names out of Jim Belushi and Tim Matheson. The movie was filmed in Eugene Oregon and in Cottage Grove Oregon . He got his history a wee bit wrong. Dean Boyd was the dean at Berkely. But The Graduate wasn't filmed there. For years, the success of The Graduate kind of made Boyd Regret his refusal to film the movie there. That's why Boyd finally agreed to allow Animal House to be filmed at U of O. If you ever go back... You should experience the culture shock if the Dexter Lake Club.... which is still going.

Since you’re in Oregon you have to probably go to the Chuck E. Cheese in Beaverton and the one in Salem because I think these locations are the best

That actually still exists but I wasn't able to get out there that day cuz it was about an hour away from the other locations. But that was just the exteriors. They actually filmed the interiors of the basement toga party in the building I was in right next to the old animal house where Belushi smashed the guitar on the stairs. Unfortunately, the basement isnt accessible to the public and I believe it's been changed quite dramatically.

@@SetsStreetsEats The building of the "stairs" (House No. 763 at 15:00) is the sorority house that Mandy Pepperidge belongs to. Gregg Marmalard sends Mandy to the house after their date, which was abruptly suspended because of "no reaction" on the part of Gregg.
