This video supplements the the instructions called "setting the fuel levels" which can be found at xj4ever.com. It shows some of the details needed to set the float levels on a set of Mikuni BS-32 Carburetors from a 1985 Yamaha FJ600. This is a common procedure and many of the same steps can be used to set the float levels on many different types of carburetors.

thanks for posting. it's rare to find such a straightforward video. i wanted to check to see if i could use a regular clear fuel tube or if it had to be a specific diameter. thanks.

good vid. the float heights should only be used as a guide as the tang on the float which makes contact with the needle valve might be slightly bent different thus making the float height the same but the fuel level different. always use the clear tube method of checking actual fuel height in the bowls with the bike level and warmed up then shut off or as in the vid bench sync . the manual for the bike usually states where the fuel should be in relation to the bowl cover . i speak from personal experience with my fzr 400 and weeks of messing with the carbs ;-) cheers for posting its the only way we learn ;-)

Do you really have to measure with the carbs on its side? I thought it was OK for the bowls to "rest" on the inner pin (under the weight of the bowls).

Really easy instructions to follow, but such a shame that you don't give the course measurement of the float height as a datum to get people started. Having a course measurement to start with would give you a chance of getting one or two right and mean less removing the float bowls. Otherwise good though.

Not for bench setting, just keep the source high enough to create some gravity pressure, you're only trying to fill the bowls. Here we used the tank itself, since then I found a bottle that works well Bench setting gets you close, if not right on, and it helps you get back to a baseline Once you've done this and you think it needs to be improved, then move on to running adjustments

your level doesn't seem to be set properly. why's it level with edge/flats of carbs? dunno what your bikes level is but on my r1 it's 5.1mm above flat on carb.

Something tells me the mark your looking for in this case is different, but i honestly can't remember, the setting is in the instructions on xj4ever.com

When you guys were trying to get the air out of the fuel line, I was yelling at my phone saying “pull the end of the damn tubing up past the point of the bubble and it’ll vent itself out!” Hahahah. Over-analytical, over-thinking couple of guys, but you missed the obvious solution to such a simple solution

@@mreinsmith it’s all good, i often overthink life in other aspects. Nice job on the rack that held up the carbs. I don’t have the patience or desire to spend the money on the parts needed, so I’ll just resort to ductaping them to a pole or something haha.
