thank you SO much much. I'm an upcoming freshman, and we have a scrimmage game this week. I've never considered myself a great setter, as I usually pass and hit. The varsity volleyball coach informed me that I will move up to varsity and set for them this year, and yesterday at practice I used these tips. she said "Lilly, your sets have gotten so much better in the past three days. what are you doing?" thank you so much for these videos!

One thing I am having trouble with is how relaxed should my fingers be when I am about to make a contact with the ball and how open should my fingers be? Also, I can't seem to understand if i have to start the setting motion before the ball touches my hands or the moment it touches them? If you could answer me it would be great because I have been stuck and have been trying to find and answer for quite some time.

Hey coach! i just wanna know if when setting a ball. ( High Ball) Am I gonna flick it with my both thumb? or just push it to the full extend of my arms. and, Is there a huge difference when practicing using a class a ball which is heavier and harder, than a original ball which is softer and lighter. I've been practicing using a class a ball and i still can't perfect my toss resulting to double contact and so much spin in the ball.

Great video. However, I do have one question... I've had two coaches in my two years playing volleyball and both have very different ideas of how you should set. I've always set with my thumbs parrallel to the ground and away from my body. My new coach suggested that I should have my thumbs pointing to my forehead like "moose antlers". Still very unsure in the proper hand and thumb position in relation to the ball, my head and if there even is a "proper" position. Would be greatly appreciated if you could help out.. thanks :)

I see the sit UPS and setting drill all over KZfaq. Is this a good setting drill to improve my skills or just a good party trick? Thanks for all you do.

I have two questions; 1. Should my hands be facing outwards or upwards when making the square? 2. Do I need to hop when setting? Or is that to prepare us for the jump set?

Sorry for the vv late reply, i hope you got answers for your questions but if not heres my take 1. Depenss on the type of set 2. The hop = weight transfer. Generally when setting the ball you dont wanna use just your hands you wanna make it so you either step through the ball or make your arms follow through enough where its kinda like a hope. I hope i explained the 2nd point well if not ask any questions

Hey Donny. I'm trying out for grade seven girls volleyball this year at school I really want to make it but I'm having a bit of trouble with serving and getting the ball over. We don't do over hand serving yet we still do under hand serving and i was wondering if you could make a video about under hand serving. Ive watched all your videos and there soooooo helpful! your such a great volleyball player and i want to be just like you one day! Thanks Donny
