I was thrown off by this because with answer B, who would CPS be investigating? The parents of the 13 year old or the 19 year old (he is not a minor which is what CPS deals with). What i was thrown off by is tbat the parents openly shared that this was going on with their minor son. Is it still necessary in that case to report? With safety being the first step the social worker needs to take, I was thinking D.

This took me a minute, but check it out. answer c refers to "the neighbor" but there is no neighbor in the question. And answer d would make the principal responsible for an adult that is not a student! So, the problem is an adult giving drugs to a minor. How to make the parents responsible to stop their child using drugs or stop the 19 year old giving the drugs is up to CPS to sort out.

This is a good process of elimination. The minor child is being given drugs by an adult and the minor has special needs..... Safety First! The BEST option is to call CPS!

But how do we know that the parents information is accurate and not an assumption? And a 19 year old is considered an adult? This is why the test is so confusing. I wish that I could ask you these questions in person😑

Anyone 18 and older is considered an adult. You should only ever consider the information and statements given to you in the question stem.

I struggled with this question because I worked for CPS for several years. I would argue it’s not abuse or neglect unless the parents were allowing it to happen, which doesn’t seem to be the case since they reported it..

@@nicolemarie748 yeah I’m struggling with the rationale for this as well. citing the KPS or wherever we can find more on this would be helpful - I tried to read up some more on this and couldn’t find anything really helpful

@@Michyyyy538 the case to call CFSA would be made regarding the 19-year-old since he is an adult. CFSA can investigate more around the 19-year-old and him distributing drugs to minors.
