Setting Trot Lines & Bush Hooks for Catfish and Gar during the Quarantine PART 1

Hey y’all!
Hope you’re all staying safe during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. We’re spending our quarantine trying to stay as busy as possible on this little creek we’ve found close to some new land we have permission to chase turkeys on.
My heart goes out to all who are unable to get outside during this crisis! I’ll be praying for everyone who is affected by this disease in whatever way.
This is only Part 1 of our trip to the creek setting trot lines and bush hooks and fishing for catfish and gar. The original video would have been over 30 minutes long and I figured it would be better to split it into 2 parts! The next video is coming soon!
We also tried Bowfishing but were pretty unsuccessful!

My daughter is 25 and we fish a lot. She catches most. We are close. Adopted her when she was 4 years old we fostered 47 kiddos. Dads should love daughters.

Love this girl. Looks better than almost every entitled princess i ever met. Nearly makes me wish I was 20 yrs younger. No nonsense, practical, plenty of determination. Mum, Dad and family should be proud. Great videos. Love the fathers approach, he offers help often but knows she is determined to learn the tricks herself. Bravo people.

Had plans on going trout fishing today but got rain 🌧 out . Nice weight nothing like a good rocker arm to hold your bait in place hope you catch a few nice one's. Hope you and everyone else are safe and healthy and keep up the good videos

Pro tip: Lay out a Bic lighter with your nylon line and use it to cut the line instead of a knife. Seals up both ends of the cut at the same time it parts the line so that it won’t unravel like that..much easier to thread the hook eye...

We would just get the end wet, then it will stay twisted long enough to get it through the eyelet (usually).

You can accomplish the same thing if you use a 9mm, set the line down, stand back about 6 or so feet and shoot the line. The heat from the bullet will seal the line and the string will be cut. Do not do this in boat...must do it elsewhere, but good tip to know if you don’t have knife or lighter.

@robbie G I really dont look at it with Hannah having Daddy issues... It just seems like they both have the same interest and she loves her Daddy to infinity.. I like their relationship👍 One thing I noticed, all the things that Hannah's Dad does, he shouldn't do alone because what they do together could be dangerous to do on your own each day with or without injury... Nevertheless there are dangers lurking in there activities.....

Some of my best memories is of me and my grandpappy setting trotlines on some of the tributaries for the "hooch" to catch them kitty fishes. These are the memories you will cherish when you get old.

My dad and I used to set bush hooks using Ivory soap. The catfish love the scent for some reason.

My dad used it for trot lines. He would cut it into squares using a piece of fishing line. Worked great.

My friend and me had a bet. He said we would catch more on ivory soap, and I said dead shrimp. We alternated hooks with each of the baits. Dead shrimp out fished ivory soap by far. If I remember right, it was 13-1. Not saying it doesn’t work, but it didn’t that night.!!

When I was much younger, my dad and I used to set out bush hooks on the Ochlocknee river. Sometimes we would set out 100 hooks. My dad had a 14ft Jon boat with a 6hp Johnson. I drove the boat and he tied the lines to the limbs. Wonderful memories.

Dip the end in water then twist end, you can feed it through the hook easier.
