@@GreenshineFarmers I would add that in our northern region, many landscapers use compressed air to blow out sprinkler lines (poly/PVC/galv) for winterizing. In fact, some people rig up a fitting that has an air compressor barb on one end and a male hose or NPT on the other to allow easy connection at season's end. Open up end of line, attach compressor line and blow it out. Haven't tried it yet myself so can't say how well it works with small compressors. Landscapers rent the big industrial trailer sized units (185CFM or so). Nice video btw.

Keep up the great work and keep the wonderful videos coming!!! Been watching them and learning TONS of info. Thank you so much for sharing. I was wondering which Mazzei Injector are you using and what kind of liquid fertilizer?? Looking at setting up something like this. Sorry if I missed it in any of the other questions.
@GreenshineFarmers
@GreenshineFarmers 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Luke, really appreciate that! We're using the Mazzei E-Z Flo M584 injector. That's the 1 1/2" pipe. Been very solid. Here's a link: www.rainfloirrigation.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Page-31-32.pdf As for fertilizer I like to use Neptune's Harvest and then I add powdered mycorhizael fungi and beneficial bacteria. Could even add predatory nematodes or do a compost tea. Being able to fertilize through the drip lines has been a huge asset, especially with longer season fruiting crops like tomatoes, peppers, and hemp. Best of luck with setting up your system and reach our with any questions!

@@GreenshineFarmers thank you very much for the reply!!! I ended up going with the 484 for the larger hemp field and the 348 for the smaller fields. Love the Mazzei injector so far. Big shout out to Cal at Mazzei tech support...spot on and helped to dail in my setup. Good info on the liquid fertilizer. Nice and simple to the point. Some of these products can be pricey. Once again love the videos and thanks for sharing the knowledge to help us thrive and not just survive. ~Luke

New sub. Man I thank you so much bc you made this very easy to understand. We still use over head, but wanting to go with drip on a lot of our stuff. I got a question??? Could this be used with pond water and a gas powered pump. We have great farms and plenty of good water, but no electricity on a few farms
@GreenshineFarmers
@GreenshineFarmers 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you and welcome! Yeah I think you could, but you might want to run it through two filters before it enters the lines. We were pumping water from the creek back in the day and I never had any problems.

Greenshine Farmers awesome. I’m told by several suppliers that it’ll work, just like you said, need a very good filtration system though. I’ve got to do some testing and get my pressures right from gas pump too. That worries me bc I’d hate to install the system only to blow it apart after start up. We use big over head right now and it works good, but for our greens I don’t like it bc it’ll make sand and dirt get on leaves I sure do appreciate your response. I seriously LOVE your channel. Y’all are our kind of ppl❤️.

With the mazzei injector, what kind of filter do you have? The part that you have in the bucket looks way bigger than the one that comes with the injector. And how do prevent it from clogging? When I hooked mine up, I lost pressure big time. So I ordered the bypass kit...Trying to figure all that out.

@BPReefer
@BPReefer 4 жыл бұрын
One last question before I go & order my drip gear. How many feet or beds are you running with your current 2hp pump? I am going to get the same Mazzei 584 injector but the pump flow is pretty important for them to work correctly. Would you be kind enough to give me some specs on your pump, flow rate,, head height etc as I'm finding it hard to match a pump here. I plan to use Hunter SVC battery operated valves for my drip timing & I assume your pump turns off at a certain pressure once your timer has switched off? Do you find any problem with having a bigger pump than you need currently to allow for future expansion? What PRV reducing valve do you have on your drip line?
@GreenshineFarmers
@GreenshineFarmers 4 жыл бұрын
I water each plot on separate cycles. Each plot has around 30 beds with two lines per bed. Each bed is a 100ft long so roughly 5000-6000 ft of line per plot. Our well is 305 ft deep with a 30 GPM potential, however our pump is only 3 HP with 19 GPM (I just found our well invoice). 3HP and 19GPM is more than enough for what we're doing. The water pressure is insane and I only open the ball valves part way to help reduce the pressure. The pump fills a 350 gal tank so that it doesn't have to run continuously every time we turn on the water. I don't think there is any harm in having more pump than you need because as I understand it you can always throttle down the pressure. However I am by no means an irrigation expert and would recommend talking to both the sales reps at Rain Flo (or other irrigation supplier) in addition to whoever will be driling the well. Also not sure if this program exists in your area, but we got a grant through the Soil and Water department in our county that paid for 75% of the total cost. Very simple application and well worth the time.

How tall is the hoop house for the Hemp?? What size galvanized pipe did you use?
@GreenshineFarmers
@GreenshineFarmers 4 жыл бұрын
I think it is 16 gauge, but the new tunnels from Farmers Friend might be even more heavy duty than that. With the 16" lift kit addition, our tunnels are probably around 10ft at center. Which is definitely not tall enough for hemp if you plant anytime before June 15th (out here at least).. I think this year we'll aim for late June, early July depending on the variety and that will probably make it a little more manageable come Fall.

@@GreenshineFarmers Probably a little challenging with plastic water lines but I've seen where a farmer used a flame weeder along his greens beds and had one of those floor scrapers drywallers use to scrape drywall mud off the subfloors as a heat shield for the plants as he walked down the row----- long handle and ~ 30 to 36" wide metal blade. As usual, it works best on small newly growing weeds.
