Thank you so much for the detailed walkthrough, Dave! I completed my setup after watching your video many times. We are now getting ice cold super sharp carbonation on demand at all times, what a dream! Mark Powers seems to be on a hiatus, so I used Soda Dispenser Depot for all parts - one thing the video didn't list is the carbonator procon pump has a 3 1/4" flare with a 1/4" barbed fitting for tubing. Also note you can buy a 3 1/4" cap from them (don't forget the washer) for the extra water outlet. I ended up using a cooler bag with large Cooler Shock ice packs under my sink for the cold plate and it's working like a charm, and I don't have to worry about drainage, just the work of swapping ice packs every day or two. As a final addition I bought a krome dispense C503 tower from Soda Dispenser Depot as well, and drilled my sink for it. Thanks again for helping me put this thing together.

Just finished my seltzer system and it works great! I wouldn't have had the ambition without this step-by-step well detailed video. instead of the cold plate, I bought a $43 6-can capacity mini fridge & some 1/4" stainless steel tubing formed into a coil. I drilled 2 holes in the side and used Great Stuff to seal it up after the tubes were fed through. We'll see how it works in the summer. Thanks Dave!

@@sdcnzl not as well as I hoped. The carbonation was weaker than I wanted, not as cold as I hoped, and I had the wrong dispenser that gave metallic taste after a while. I'm almost done doing it a different way. Split the pu.p and holding tank on the carbonator. Putting the tank in my fridge with an appropriate dispenser. Now the seltzer doesn't have to travel 30 feet to my dispenser. Hope it works better

Really good video. Explains everything I had questions about. In figuring out how to put a complete system together, I have a few questions: 1) Any reason not to put the McCann in a mini fridge and skip the cold plate? 2) If an Ibis 1-Faucet Tower is not an option, what does the Becker hand valve install into? I see a selection of Draft Beer Towers but nothing to tell me what the Becker is compatible with, or how to tell that.

I have always dealt with Foxx for all of my needs. I was doing all types of repairs on soda, and beer systems and still purchase any supplies I need for my personal systems since changing jobs many years ago. Before I moved to he EU I ordered the 220volt motor and sensor for this same McCans carbonator. Works great, too bad Coke and like products post mix syrups are too expensive in the EU, main reason is that they only use cane sugar in syrups. High fructose corn syrups are illegal here. They still use the Stainless steel kegs here for syrups. Thank goodness I have all the fittings needed. That hose used for carbonated beverages (double wall hose) must not be exposed to UV light. It will degrade and could rupture creating a real mess. I prefer the double sided clamps, they make for a better seal. I would recommend adding a stainless steel shutoff valve on the output of the carbonator should a line break. It’s also good to shut off the electric, CO2 and water if you are going out of town. Better safe than sorry, nothing worse than coming home to a flooded kitchen. As for those quarter turn valves, you need to work them a few times every three months. They will freeze up with mineral buildups (yes even with soft water they will clog ) and will become inoperative or extremely hard to operate. Interesting build up of a water manifold under his sink. Here in the EU plumbing supply houses have manifolds with up to 8 ports. Only issue is they use 1/2” British Straight Thread compared to our 1/2” tapered thread.

love this guy, great video, thank you. I learned a few things I haven't seen elsewhere on the internet. I was tempted to buy a big mac carbonator, but I wanted something I could fit the tank right in my kitchen fridge. I got a 1.5 gallon 6 liter torpedo soda keg. I got a special lid to put on the keg which has the water inlet and the float and spray nozzle. my ro filtered water is only 35 psi, so I have a diaphragm booster pump ordered which should fix that problem for me, cuz I want high carbonation. I was tempted to get a cold plate, but much better to just put the whole keg right in the fridge. I'm still looking for a soda tap/dispenser valve. difficult to find one I like. I'd love to have a proper soda fountain dispenser, but no idea how to connect to one of those heads without buying the whole fountain, which is far outside my soda budget.

Ok professor(journeyman plumber here) I loved the video but wanted to clear up a psig (water pressure to the home) thing. We install PRV’s ( pressure regulator valves mostly brass )valves all the time! They regulate those whom are getting high water pressure100+lbs down under a “normal range” of pressure.Watts PRV’s are 3/4”to 2” in size(most are on 1” water mains for residential applications) The pressure regulator are at 90lbs on the high end to 45lbs on the low end.

Great video David. I agree with the person who recommended you package all the products together and sell it as a package deal on say Amazon. I would buy it right now, as I personally like buying new versus risking buying someone's old used possibly poorly maintained restaurant equipment that may fail and flood the house down the road. I have a sink/drain along with an ice maker and Culligan's Aquasential tankless RO drinking water filtration system that provides over 600 gallons per day of RO water at an outlet flow rate of 0.42 gpm with a recovery rating of 69.6%. Specs say the unit has a daily production rate of 757.2 gallons per day. I would very much like to feed your recommended carbonation setup with filtered water from this system into a cold plate in bottom of icemaker to chill the water and then feed it into the carbonator. What do you think?

I did something like this, with the system in my basement running up to my kitchen. The obvious thing happens: the water sitting in the house after the cold plate gets warm and foams coming out (losing carbonation). After that water has been dispensed the water that was sitting in the cold plate is better, although it is still slightly warmed from passing through the hose on the way. It works fine for me, I either throw away the room-temperature water or let it mix with the cold water that follows, depending on how cold/fizzy I want my drink. With 30 feet of 1/4-inch hose you will get about 10oz of warm water each time you dispense. You can insulate the hose if you want the water in the hose to warm up slower.

@@paulbunyun4479 OF COURSE you can use R/O H2O !!. My setup adds back some minerals, after the R/O filtration. I then boil the water to de-aerate it (holds more CO2 that way. let it cool, bottle it, get it slushy-cold in the fridge, Then I CO2 infuse it at about 60psi, while agitating the bottle until no more CO2 will go into the bottle. Then I re-frigerate it until I want to use it. All works like a no-sweat system, and very inexpensive. P.S. I suspect that ALL CO@ is food grade. That way, all the suppliers don't have to keep track of separate systems.

Thanks for the great video. Can you have a water chiller feed into the Big Mac instead of coming out of the Big Mac into a cold plate?

Great video! Thank you. One thing I'm not clear on is whether you are carbonating tap water at room temperature or using cold water from the cold plate. I understand that you need to carbonate cold water. What's your PSI setting for carbonating warm tap water.

hello thank you for sharing, wondering whether the gas inlet on these has a tube to bottom of the tank or feeds from above water level? we tried to build one though not getting much carbonation, we feed from top without a carb stone... TIA

Hey Arnold I working on a small project and I have tried using plastic bottle for my carbonated drink but for some reason everytime drinks go flat after sometime - I would really appreciate if we can connect to discuss more in detail.

Would this setup work?: city water-->mccann's pump-->[water pressure tank-->bigmac]-->flow control valve. [] means in fridge... purpose of the water pressure tank would be so I can have more cold seltzer available at all times and so it has time to sit and cool down in the fridge for optimal co2 infusion.

Thank you for the video! Does the inside of the tank ever rust or go bad in any way? I have one that's been in storage for a couple years (not temp controlled at all so it got really hot at times) that I was going to start using but how do I kno that there's no rust, mold or anything inside the tank? Any enclosed container that once held water could get gross over time couldn't it?

Just spoke with Dave, and he says it should be fine, just run some cycles of water through it to kind of flush it out and you should be fine!

Luis- I’m having a difficult time finding a seltzer tower with a compensator. Foxx is for the trade. Can you help? Also I was good to set my system up without the chiller, can’t I just add ice from my freezer directly into my cup? No room in the kitchen!

For anyone else having trouble finding the tap model. The search term I used was "flow control faucet" and it seems to find relevant results.

Hey Dave! What is the best pump/carbonator setup for premixed root beer in a busy restaurant? 100 gallon setup using 2 to 3 beer taps

This video helped me a great deal getting a beverage trailer up and running for higher volume events. Ive been running since May with the McCann Set up and recently it appears that the carbonated water is freezing in the cold plate in one of my bins. I have a 2 tap system. Anyone have any ideas about this? Water runs with no ice but after the bin is filled with ice, water stops so my only conclusion is the cold plate is freezing up.. Crazy
