Setting up a metal engraving fiber laser!

Here I unbox and setup my brand new 60W MOPA Fiber Laser. We go through hooking it up, focusing it, and engraving our first logo into metal.

First off huge fan been watching you since the beginning and I share the love of welding and fabricating. Congratulations on choosing an amazing laser brand like SFX. I don’t know much about the laser engraving machines they offer but I purchased three of their laser cleaning machines and am blown away on how well they perform and the customer service. Thank you for the video. I am contemplating what to get to engrave copper busbars for battery builds. I would prefer to put down 5-20 busbars and have the engraving done in one go, rather than individual pieces.

All in one?? I love the fiber for the metal capabilities, but a Co2 would make powder coated tumblers easier. BUT the minimal maintenance on a galvo fiber is nice.

I think I’ve seen something like that! Is there a problem with the dust from the engraving falling into the components?

Not sure if you noticed, or required. The bottom usb slots are your usb 3.0 onwards one. If you require faster read, write, run speeds, use those. The one you used I believe is a standard usb port, 1.0. Onwards to watching the video.

Would you have any classes because I am trying to learn on the depth and speed to engrave brass coin. I cut through a 2.5mm thickness and deep engrave a circle in a 3mm thickness and ended up with a penny size Egypt bug.

Odd, my EMP Fiber laser is all tested in the US and doesn’t require any of this weird setup and testing and back and forth checking. Just plugged in and worked.

Question...I am a FFL (Federal Firearms Dealer). I am looking for a Fiber Laser that would be able to engrave firearms. I have ben told to get a 100W unit. Do you feel that would be enough power? Thank you!!!

Limited material compatibility. The OMTECH engraver struggles with various materials, severely restricting its usability
