Ed, I know you probably don't read these anymore but I am writing in hopes of others like me are reading. I am about your dads age. I have raced RC Nitro and electric trucks before, messed around with Nitro and electric boats and have messed around with cheap sub-$100 drones. My most expensive RC truck was a decked out T-Maxx which all together was around $600. The trucks you wouldn't lose and everything was easy to fix when crashed, the boats you could lose...kind of, but putting $1,000 in the air was terrifying! I was so nervous about flying and then I saw you with your dad and I got over it. You two motivated me to get off KZfaq and go fly! He was like I am now, and after his first flight he looked like he was actually having fun! I got the drone 3 days ago and have not been out to fly yet, I took it outside and calibrated everything, and made some video just holding the drone and walking around my yard. This is so lame! I am heading out the door right now! Thanks Ed! You have a bunch of great vids for the Mavic Pro. I have watched probably 50 videos this week and yours are hands down the best. Ed, thanks for all the videos you upload! I just ordered a Mavic Pro Platinum, and before I get it delivered, I'll try to plow through all videos on KZfaq on the subject. From newbie start-up videos to a bit more advanced videos. In my mind I can already fly it, but by personal experience tells me that I tend to get ahead of myself, rushing to fast into new things. So, this time, I will take it step by step, moving slowly, getting aquainted with the drone and its features. Videos such as yours has really helped me to understand drones. Great video. Took me back to my first setup and flight. Taking the gimbal clamp made me more nervous than my first flight (which was also indoors since we were in the middle of 4 days of rain). They are on there pretty good the first few times you take them off and put them on. I also use your way of holding the drone to change ND filters but for a new person I would recommend doing it with the gimbal clamp on for extra support.

For those having trouble with connecting your phone to the drone if your phone is on ios 11.0 or later. 1) Clear the settings and intallation package along with cache inside the app. 2) Delete the app. 3) Reinstall the app (make sure you have a good service or good internet in order to install the correct updates) 4) Make sure you plug the iphone connector from the controller firmly into the device. Thank me later if it works (it worked for me and im running on ios 11.2 with an iphone 8)

Nice vid! Just one thing though, i think it's better to calibrate the compass outside, just before taking off. The metal in the structure from houses interfere with the compass

Im many years into R/C , from car to planes , helis and drones and even FPVing with a race quad and have owned and flown DJI quads for a few years now. But nothing as cool as the Mavic. I got the same fly more combo. Had it 3 weeks and it's cool. Charge my phone up with he low batteries wait a while fly more as the controller lasts a god while. I am in England have no idea about the registration faa I heard you saying we don't need to. Although it says it does please help.

Hello, Just wondering if you have looked into the Mavic FPV app? It costs $7 and want to know if there is an advantage to it or if the GO 4 app is just as good?

This packaging must be brand new. I got my Mavic last month and the packaging was the same as yours, 3 separate boxes.

Real nice video, and very informative for me, since I just got my first drone. The Mavic Pro Platinum fly more combo. I have to say, it would be good if I had someone to help me set it up for flying at least, but I know no one in my area who has one. For that reason my progress in getting it set up properly is going very slowly. The videos I watch here on you tube are helpful, only so much. I just subscribed to your channel by the way.

Hi, Ed. It was very nice meeting your father. I thought he was already an expert on drones. My question: I've used ADOBE PREMIERE for editing of a video recorded with the MAVIC PRO and export it with the KZfaq configuration, but the video comes out pixelated, blurry. What happens there

Never use the camera cover it can cause it to over heat, look behind the camera and you will see vents

I had a similar experience yesterday. I went to the Apple Store to see if they had any Mavic batteries and saw a guy trying to decide between the Mavic and the Hovercam (the one that looks like a book when folded) as his first drone. Obviously I highly recommended the Mavic, I actually told him to watch some of your beginner videos if/when he gets his. I was talking to him about it more than the guy working there was :P

ah, nice. Don't forget to update the firmware of each intelligent battery too! When a new battery is inserted, the DJI GO app will state there's a software mismatch and a download is needed, so it's automatically downloaded and applied for the newly inserted battery too. (FYI). So expect a short delay if prior to flight. I would suggest updating all batteries at home first so you have no delays out on the field! Best to turn all off, insert the new battery and turn back on for it to fully update. Have fun and relax!

Mine must have been old, it just came in a bunch of different packages and doesn't say fly more. Came in the same outside box from DJI though.

Please help. I wish to use the Go 4 app to manually set up waypoints as I've seen done on KZfaq. I have DJI Go 4, version 4.3.12. My software won't allow me to manually set up waypoints. I must fly my mavic to set waypoints. How can I manually set waypoints on my ipad?? Thanks so much for any help!
