I adjust the saddle height and do a truss rod adjustment on an Eastman E6D acoustic guitar.

I hope my video was helpful. I didn't show the saddle sanding. My tip is be careful to keep the bottom of the saddle flat as you go. It's very easy to sand it a bit off kilter. Good luck. I have been a big Eastman fan but I have now had several experiences with the necks lifting, which requires ongoing lowering of the saddle to the point that the sound and responsiveness is compromised.

Could you tell me what size is that truss rod wrench is? Thanks!

that trussrod adjusts very easy. Doesnt need force to be turned, compared to other guitars. Am I right ? doesnt seem normal

From memory that truss rod functioned OK. The neck was set pretty flat so it was doing its job. Problem with that action on that guitar was not because the neck had too much relief. Since this video I have started keeping my guitars in cases with humidity sacks to keep them dry. That has alleviated the issue with lifting action.

Do you live in the UK (where the humidity level is higher and which can cause neck lifting)? I was shocked to hear you say you've "had several experiences with the necks lifting,"....that's not an experience I've heard about, or ever encountered, here in the U.S. from other long-time owners...not even once. I've had my E40 D for more than a decade and I've never even had cause to make a single truss rod adjustment since it was set up beautifully (and since I monitor the guitars humidity and I store it back in it's case when I'm not playing it - which helps too). You're not suggesting that they are not made particularly well, or use inferior grades of wood, are you? I'm Interested to hear you elaborate on this experience and your view on the probable cause...

Hi Guitar Detective. I live in Sydney Australia. It is a humid location - does not often fall below 60% humidity. Being a temperate latitude, it doesn’t get much dryer in winter. When I wrote to Eastman about my issues they advised that they do not have issues with necks lifting in other parts of the world and I should keep my guitars in their cases. I do tend to leave my guitars on a stand in our living room. Today humidity is 62%. I just did a video on my E3D where action has lifted 1/64 so I reduced saddle a touch. So on balance I take responsibility for leaving my guitars in too humid environment but I also have direct experience with the E6 and the AC22 necks lifting over a period of months while other guitars remained more stable in the same environment. So I would think there is some case to answer for with the Eastman construction. I go into this at some length in my other videos. I remain a big fan of Eastman - I have come to the conclusion that guitars are to a certain degree consumer items. It is not just an Eastman problem - I see so many new guitars at all price levels at music shops in Sydney with unplayable high actions.

@@turrafirmaguitarchannelare these instruments other boutique level guitars? If they’re just factory made instruments they’re built for strength and rigidity instead of overall sound essentially they’re just overbuilt. If you had a Collings or Santa Cruz or something similar in those regards that don’t have the same problem I could understand but it seems like your channel has more affordable and/or factory made guitars compared to boutique guitars that need more attention and care.
