1) Heater (Optional)
Is not necessary if you live in a tropical countries.
(I am living in Malaysia and the water temperature is around 25°-28°). If you live in a countries with four seasons, you will be needed a heater.
2) Air pump (Optional)
Is not necessary to have an air pump. Betta fish can survive without an air pump because they have a special respiratory organ called a labyrinth. Therefore, they just need very small amounts of oxygen. If you are keeping betta fish with other types of fish, then you will be needed an air pump.
3) Aquarium filter (Optional)
I don't install a filter because I do changes the water regularly. (Twice a week, 50% of the water every time). If you install a filter, please make sure the water flow is not too strong because they like calmer waters.
NOTE:
Acclimate your fish before placing it into the tank.
Bad water condition, stress or hungry will lead to Betta fish jump out from the tank.
Healthy Fish: Swimming around.
Unhealthy Fish: Sinking at the bottom or hiding always.

@@SomeoneWhoHasExisted33 I cannot tell if you're being sarcastic or not. But 2 gallons is way too small. Just because it seems happy doesn't mean that actually is happy. If your fish has often been hiding under the plants or trying to hide from the light, that means it probably is too small. if you would like fish tank that looks better or takes up less room, at least get a 5 gallon. What I did was I got a 7 gallon, then I packed it with plants and a nice filter. If you cannot afford the least of what they deserve, you shouldn't own a fish.

@@una979 it swims around and responds well to everything I do. It has a heater and a nice filter in it. The tank is shorter and wider and the plants are around the edges for the fish to have space to swim. I can't stand to see my poor fish suffering through the pet store again. I take the best care I can of it but my parents won't let me have a bigger tank. Is there any way to improve the fish's quality of life in the conditions it has? I'm sorry to keep bugging you

Inform your parents on the situation of the tank and how the betta needs more space, or you can keep that tank but you MUST take care of the tank. Thank you for caring for your fish.

Bettas can stay with some tank mates but you have to be careful while choosing, you can keep female bettas together but most people say it’s not worth it

@@mcg9573 Even if it IS fin rot, it's more than likely because his tank is way to small, and he's just lying on the gravel because theres nothing else for him to do....which will also lead to tearing off his fins; it's common for bored bettas.

Beyond the obvious, that's not gravel, it was buoyant @Oblivion4870 . Aside from that, the bullshit seeds he laid on the substrate is at best plants that can handle high wetness, not full submersion. That carpet, which would prevent the Betta from laying on the "gravel" will die fully submerged, and create an ammonia spike. Because the creator posted this out of best ignorance, which promotes animal abuse, those animals were doomed from the start.

They will probably survive for a decently long time but will have to suffer. That's why all the little kids keep their betta in 5 litre and say its ok because it has been alive for so long. Fish are probably the most abused pets out there.

I’m going to pay for plants, a 20 tank, and good substrate for this guy, I’m also going to cycle it and buy the filter, the heater, and the air stone this guy needs, I’m also going to get some good wood for the tank and maybe a portal for duckweed :D all for this guy, now I will check on this guy for feeding.

Already a beautiful carpet but stocking choice ruins it, For betta, ehh maybe but I do suggest shrimp or snails no fish for small tank. Btw betta in the background could use a wider tank, not to say he live in a too small tank but you need to do an upgrade to the betta tank

The container is a bit small for like 5 fish. I know the fish are tiny but they need room as well. Maybe get a bit bigger tank? This tank also needs a filter to better help them- No hate though. This is really cool.

5 gal min for males, 10 gal min for females, and 20 gal min for giants. Space shouldn’t be a luxury. Don’t get them if you don’t have space for them, it’s fine to have a jar of pretty plants.
