Hello everyone! Man it has been a hectic first couple days on the 41.36! We have had rain storms, wind blowing our trailer tarp away and the humidity!!! We got our new tarp covering both trailers and its stable! Melanie and Roxane have been doing a great job keeping the camp in order. It's a hard job to do with 4 kids and 5 dogs ! Enjoy!

I suspect the crew that built the road can hook y'all up with a septic tank installer,,,,, That is what you need for the black water ..... That soil does not perculate because of the high clay content .... When you build your houses , you will need a septic tank .... may as well install one now , just figure out the best location and be done with it .....

Gray water can be use to watering plants, 🌲 etc. Just extend the hose and take it to the woods (underground). She’s right next to the woods!!! And then, y’all can start planting your stuff and take advantage of gray H2O and make a garden! You are welcome! Lol

Get a 45 gal drum, drill holes till half way down. Bury the whole tank with enough room to fill with sand around it. The solids will sink to the bottom and the liquid will drain away into the sand. Be sure not near your well. Buy a tank on wheels to drain your sewer and empty into the drum

This is exactly what we did for our gray water. We are currently renting a porta potty for about $60 per month. The company comes weekly to empty, clean and restock. These two things have made the trips to our property so much less stressful for the time being. It’s great that you already have a well. We’ve slowly evolved from buying water by the gallon and depending on rain water for showers to constantly looking for places to fill (4) 6 gallon water containers which were super heavy when I was alone. Now we rent an IBC tote (considering purchasing one) from the same company we rent the porta potty from. When water gets low I call and they come fill it up. Life on the compound is so much easier now. Once we have a well and electricity, focusing on the work ahead will be so much easier.

One more piece of advice. Find a hospital type potty chair. Used without the bowl insert, it’s a perfect alternative to popping a squat for those of us who can’t squat like we used to. Lol

Have you thought about renting a portapot? They come and service it. Till you folks get your potty situation taken care of. Put it to the north of camp site and then you won't have to smell it during the summer. Grey water ,Put a long hose going down the hill away from the campers.💓

Here's a suggestion from someone that has been there done that. Put one end up about a foot above one camper. Tether it off to trees. Let the other side gradually go over end trailer. Not touching. Tether off with rope to almost the ground. You need a gradual slope and you will be good. You need to dig about a 3x3x4ft deep hole for the dump station or you are going to be in a mess. You can put a pallet or something like that over it for safety. I also would see how far away her lines will go and do hole about a ft shorts of it. Like I said been there. Good luck..

You could always make supports for the tarps in the center so they let the water flow off when it rains. Use Bandanas that have been soaked in cold water to help cool you down. Heat is hotter and cold is colder with humidity.

You will figure out the best way to rig the tarp, it’s all trial & error. You will need to slope the tarp in a way to direct the runoff to where you want it to go and not in middle of your campsite👌. I have found center poles work well to direct water, just make sure to pad top of them under tarp to prevent wear. Hopefully you guys won’t need those tarps for too much longer😝

I'm glad to see you switched to a smaller white tarp. That will make it lighter underneath. You'll acclimate to the humidity. Just give it time. I chuckled at you being cold in Walmart. The locals probably enjoy it. You're just used to greater heat and little humidity. Can't wait for your reaction to seeing the pond and exploring the property more fully. Gary and Mel haven't thoroughly explored it yet either. You may have trouble passing a perk test right there, because of the clay content in the soil. Different areas may perk better.

No matter what people say from other areas, there is a difference in the way the heat gets to you. In the humid climates you need to dry the air around you, in the drier climates you have to bring in moisture to cool you down. There is no escaping the heat where you are unless you have circulating air. Look for and invest in a squirrel cage fan. They put out lots of air. Most of us that ride wear our do-rags under our caps and helmets to soak up the sweat and keep it out of our eyes. Hope you remembered to lift the tarp up off of your a/c units on the top of your RV's, for air circulation. Don't want to see you burn up their motors.

As for as the tarp situation, check into the portable metal carports. You can order custom sizes to cover both trailers. I seen it where people have enclosed it, insulated and installed a wood stove. This will buy you sometime to build and get setup. Winter is coming! Once the houses are build you will have a nice garage and or workshop.

Ok, you've got no drainage through your soil. Check out "Off Grid With Doug and Stacy" & their composting system & how they use it. You try putting in a septic system & your soil might not pass a perc test. Might as well turn your waste into something useable a couple years down the road. Might want to get that OSB out of the dirt also & put it on a couple pallets in front of your doors. That stuff is like gold right now. Play nice & have fun 😊.
