Setting up our solar power at camp was the best outcome we experienced on this fateful trip! The setup went together beautifully and successfully recharged our solar generator. Thankfully it was in the tent and was not damaged when we had the disaster with the screen house.

When I bought my sister one of these gennies, I also bought her a dolly to permanently attach it to. This makes it easy to establish it where ever she needs it. Because they ARE heavy. I recommend one with large wheels.

Thank you Pam and Jim for all the great information. I bought a solar generator last year, but have not set it up yet. Math and angles are not my strong point 🤦🏼‍♀️, so I researched a little more to help me with that. I happened to come across this tip that I thought I would pass along: As a rule of thumb, solar panels should be more vertical during winter to gain most of the low winter sun, and more tilted during summer to maximize the output. The optimum tilt angle is calculated by adding 15 degrees to your latitude during winter, and subtracting 15 degrees from your latitude during summer. Hope this helps!

Those solar panel connectors (MC4) are a pain to work with. I find them very difficult to disconnect. Particularly without the special tool. I found out later that they are not designed to cycled very often. I changed all of mine to Anderson Powerpole connectors and now connecting and disconnecting is a joy. The only issue is you need to be more cognizant of polarity as the Anderson Powerpole connectors are genderless, but they are color coded (red/black for +/-).

Its nice that the Generator can handle a variable DC volt/amp input. A dedicated Charge controller that can do that costs about $300. This helps justify the cost of the product. The connectors you are using are standard for a permanent installation and dont lend themselves to constant connecting and re-connecting. Also, you'll notice that the gauge (diameter) of your patch cables is much larger than the adapter cable (i assume it has a fuse), since you are in series, the guage "could" be smaller, but its nice to have more than you need. This is a great demo of what can be an overwhelming project (in-series vs parallel, amps vs volts, what type of charge controller, etc.) Well done!

Very neat. Thanks for posting. Can't wait for the review. Slightly off-topic. I'm sorry you had such a bad time on your trip. I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt and although the other campers were annoying, at least they weren't aggressive. I was wondering if those corkscrew type stakes would work for you? Sort of like a dog tie-out stake. They come with a bar to put through the loop so they're easy to turn in and out of the ground. You may only need a couple just to keep your tent and screen house from blowing completely away as a last resort.

When I began camping years ago, I camped with a retired couple who had camped forever. When I asked about locking up this or that, they always told me campers looked out for each other and they had never had anything touched. I no longer camp (sadly), but that rule held true for me too. It’s too bad that our world is upside down now. Worse yet, what we knew is never coming back. 😭

Things have changed a lot for campers. I read an article (central AZ mountains) last year about a couple who had all their equipment stolen, including tents, trailer, etc. They had been out hiking for the day. So sad what our world is coming to.

Are you connecting your panels in series or in parallel? I think you said "series", but I'm confused. I thought when you connect panels in series you added up the voltage and when you connect in parallel you add up the amperage, but I could be wrong. When you connect the 4 panels are you connecting them in series to achieve a total output of 48 volts?

You are correct and yes, I connected them in series. Our panels are 12 volt. You can do it either way with the Bluetti and I don't have parallel connectors yet, so I just did series. We released another solar panel video today with more up-close detail.

These panels are the same ones that are installed on roof tops, so yes. they are highly weather resistant.

I have ordered the AC 200max and two B230 batteries. I have found that the Bluetti customer service is lousy. They don't answer their phones. I have called over 30 times today and cannot get any of their departments to answer. You can't even leave a message for a return call. All I am trying to find out is what connectors come with the purchase of that equipment and are there additional connectors needed to charge the equipment. I run my house on solar and have plenty of panels. Do you know... Are there specialized connections required for fast charging of all equipment?

Sorry you are having trouble with customer service. So frustrating! I am not sure--your order should include what connectors are included. Ours came with MC4 connector cables, and several other cables. We are currently camping but I will check when we get home tomorrow and let you know if I can find your comment again!
