now i feel i am in a position to be passing some of this knowledge on.

Excelent advise. A ridgeline makes all the difference in the world. I put one on every hammock that I have. A suggestion for determining the length that fits one's needs. I tie an overhand knot at one end just like you do. It is the easiest as well as a very strong knot. But, on the other end I use a tautline hitch that is adjustable. This allows quick and precise adjustments. After finding that "sweet spot" I tie another overhand knot as you have done. Quick and easy. One other thing that I do is get an extra stuff sack. I punch a hole in one of the bottom corners. I run the ridgeline through the opening at the top on the bag and through this hole I punched. I now have a quichly made ridgeline organizer. Keep the videos coming. I am enjoying them. And.. have a peek over at my channel where I review lots of hammock gear.

Hey mate, just subscribed and watched a few of your hammock tips vids, via English woodsman recommended. I have a tarp tip, that I saw very briefly on a random vid.basically, Instead of tying knots in ridgeline, I bought a set of 2 adjustable Rope Ratchet Hanger for Hydroponics. About £5 a pair from eBay. Only need the one, others a spare. I just swapped the chord for a longer chord for ridgeline. Works great as a test, though I've not tried it on tarp yet due to lockdown. Great hack though, no knot learning.

Thank you so very much for showing how to setup. I have seen some Canadian videos showing it, but they always talk as if everyone has done it before. Do you attach to the trees at head height or above or below? Is it depending on the trees? How thick should the trees be? Roughly how far apart? Amazing as always ATB
@OscarOutdoors22
@OscarOutdoors22 3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate roughly 5 good paces is a good starting point, but your suspension system will determine the distance. I can gi as far as 8.5 paces with 5inch diameter trees. Which is also the minimum i would use. Eye level or above again depending on your suspension. You want the hammock to comfortable to sit in with your feet on the floor. Hope that helps mate

@Aggy. How are you. Sorry i missed your message. The Snugpak tropical hammock is a great easy set up hammock although not perfect. The carabiners are heavy and they come with paracord suspension. Apart feom that the weight lomit is unrivaled and you get a little case which you can utilise in other ways. For a beginner thats not certain hammocking is for them. A little expensive, but a good investment if you decide you do like it. Hope that helps.. anything else just ask
